Product Details

FrontLoader™ Roof Bike Rack by Yakima®. This versatile carrier may be the easiest to install and load bike rack yet devised. The simple to operate built-in clamps attach to round, square, factory, and aero crossbars, with no tools required, and the hoops hold the complete bike upright while you secure it to the rack; no need to remove the front wheel. Once loaded up, the FrontLoader provides safe, secure transport for most bikes with 20" to 29" wheels, and it accommodates disc brakes, thru axles, and full suspension. The front clamp can be locked to the crossbar and the integral cable lock can be used to lock the bike to the rack. SKS (Same Key System) lock cores (sold separately) can be configured for single key locking.

When you want to hit those great mountain trails, or do some miles on scenic stretches of asphalt, the last thing you need is a finicky bike rack that's a hassle to install and load. With the Yakima FrontLoader Roof Bike Rack, you can be loaded up and on the road whenever the impulse moves you, with very little time and effort required. The built-in clamps on the FrontLoader can be attached to round, square, factory, and aero crossbars. The clamps adjust to accommodate the crossbar style and thickness, and the rear clamp slides to accommodate crossbar spacing. Once the rack is securely in position the front clamp can be locked to the crossbar with an SKS lock core (sold separately).

Loading your bike is just as simple. Place the bike in the carrier with the front wheel in the hoop. The carrier will hold the bike upright, leaving your hands free to secure the bike, and since there's no frame contact, you'll never have to worry about frame damage. The front hoop has a wheel grip that adjusts to the tire diameter, and once the wheel is installed the rear hoop will lever up. Pull down on the wheel while tightening the adjustment knob to secure the front wheel, then wrap the strap through the rear wheel and tighten it with the ratchet mechanism. The rear wheel tray can slide on the rack to accommodate various wheelbases. The Front Loader fits bikes up to 40 lbs., 20" to 29" wheels, mountain and road bike wheels (except tandems and recumbents), and accommodates disc brakes, thru axles, and full suspensions.

A built-in cable lock is stored under the front hoop, and this can be used to secure the bike to the rack. Like the rack lock, it requires an SKS lock core (sold separately), but these can be set up to operate with the same key. When the rack is unloaded both hoops can be folded down for better aerodynamics and for additional roof clearance. Comprehensive, illustrated installation/user instructions are included with the Front Loader Roof Bike Rack. The rack is covered by a limited lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.

Yakima Front Loader Roof Bike Rack
This was a great purchase for me and I highly recommend this to anyone. I bought this one because it was made to fit my existing roof rack without any special adapters. I'm able to use it on any of my cars roof racks (all Toyota). The rack came completely assembled and ready for use. It takes less than 10 minutes to attach it to the car. The bike was easy to fit in and secure down. I bought the additional lock cylinders which secures the rack to the car and the bike cable to the bike and rack.
