Product Details

Ford Tempo 3.0L 1993, Distributor Rotor by Taylor Cable®. Periodic replacement of your distributor rotor will keep your car running at peak efficiency. Deteriorated distributor rotors can cause misfires by allowing the spark to leak off to ground, or be routed to the wrong plug.

Contact Terminal Material: Brass
Quantity: 1 Piece

  • Made from alkyd molding
  • Superior protection from cross firing and arcing
  • Corrosion resistant brass inserts
  • Steel rotor springs
  • High conductivity and unrestricted energy flow
  • Made in the USA

The distributor takes the high voltage from the coil and parcels it out to the spark plugs. The rotor spins around like a top inside the cap, making contact with the towers that connect to the plugs one at a time as it spins. This carefully-timed ballet makes the spark travel to the correct plug in the firing order, and none other. Carrying voltages higher than a Taser, and operating in the extremely hot and dusty environment under the hood, it’s no wonder the distributor cap and rotor need to be replaced at regular intervals. When the insulation on the alkyd plastic parts starts to deteriorate, it can let some or all of the energy in the spark escape, robbing the spark plug, and making for misfires. While cleaning a dirty rotor can help for a while, eventually the dielectric coating breaks down from heat and ozone, and becomes electrically conductive. The only fix is to install new parts. Fortunately, replacing the rotor is easy. Just lift off the cap (you don’t have to remove the wires to lift it far enough) and pop on a new rotor. And you probably should replace the cap at the same time.
