A staple gun is a compact, practical tool that will be a perfect addition to your tool box. Used for putting things together or affixing different materials to a surface, a staple gun will be irreplaceable for household and DIY needs, as well as for professional heavy-duty tasks. Driving metal staples into plastic, wood, and masonry, a staple gun can easily tackle roofing, wiring, carpeting, and upholstery jobs with minimum user strain.
Depending on the power source used to operate the tool, there are manual, electric, and pneumatic staple guns. Lightweight hand-powered staple gun is the simplest of all staplers. The manual tool is outfitted with a spring mechanism that stores the mechanical energy necessary for firing off the staples at a rather high speed. Unlike the commonly used office staplers, the staple gun lacks the anvil required for folding the ends of the staples inwards. That is why the spring mechanism shoots the staples in powerful blows to ensure that the sharp legs of the staple are inserted deeply into the target material.
Compared with a manual staple gun, a power staple gun fires off the staples at a higher rate and requires less physical effort. Operated by electricity/batteries or compressed air, power staple guns deliver outstanding power and can be applied to a whole range of heavy-duty tasks. Electric and pneumatic staple guns often feature extended nose/tip that allows the fasteners to be driven into corners, cracks, and other difficult-to-reach spots. Some types of staple guns have an adjustable head that can be used for working at multiple angles. Contoured anti-slip grip and safety trigger will ensure maximum comfort and minimal risk.
Most power staple guns feature a low/high power switch that allows varying the rate of driving in the staples. For the majority of applications, square crown staples are used. However, some kinds of staple guns make use of round crown staples. These are used for holding the cables against the target surface and are thus irreplaceable for wiring tasks. Suitable for light- and heavy-duty jobs, stainless steel anti-rust staples are equally effective for wood, masonry, plastic, fabric, etc. There is a number of standards as to the size and length of staples. Common staple leg lengths include 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 1/2", 17/32", and 9/16".
