Installation

The SportRack™ Skyline Cargo Box proves that you don't have to spend a lot to get a lot. If you've got a lot of gear to carry, don't try to cram it all inside your vehicle. The Skyline's ample capacity will swallow up to 18 cu. ft. and 100 lbs. of gear, and its attractive finish and aerodynamic shape will look great up on your roof. And besides its large capacity and good looks, the Skyline is loaded with features you'd expect to find on a much higher priced carrier.

The Skyline loads quickly and easily with the included U-bolt fasteners to most original equipment and aftermarket crossbars (maximum 4" crossbar diameter), without tools. The cargo box lid opens to the passenger side for easy loading and unloading while the spring loaded hinges ease opening and closing the lid, and hold the lid open for loading. A foam gasket is included to attach to the lid, to seal out the elements. For ultimate security, the lid is held down at 4 points, with a clamp at each end and 2 locks at the side. And the key can't be removed from the lock unless the lid is closed and locked.

The SportRack™ Skyline Cargo Box comes with everything required for installation, including detailed instructions.

Skyline XL SR7095 Roof Cargo Review
Skyline XL SR7095 made from fragile plastic with plastic locking mechanisms. Everything has to be aligned in order for the cargo box to work properly. You will always concern about the stability of the rood cargo box on freeway due to high speeding. I do not recommended it!

Roof Carrier Review
Product looked great. No missing parts. Easy to assemble. However, I ordered it because it was for a 2017 Subaru Outback and it had the space to carry what I need. The centerline on the mounts for the carrier I received was 20.5 inches and the centerline of the roof racks on the outback was 30.25 inches when placed into position. I was unable to adjust the outback's roof racks to the shorter distance. I didn't expect to have to modify the carrier to fit my outback, but it did end up working. I am concerned about the firmness of the carrier due to the extended centerline of the mounting length, but I think it will work. If necessary, I will design a means to firm the carrier up so I don't have to worry about damaging my new car's roof.

Great!
The install only took about 15minutes. It's pretty sturdy and has plenty of room inside for all my fishing poles and gear. Nothing seems to be shifting too much on my 2hr drives to the coast. It's quite narrow, and leaves plenty of room on the roof of the car for my kayak. My only "issue" with this particular rack is that the beveled texture on the outside makes it difficult to put travel stickers on.

Satisfied Customer
We like the aerodynamic look and function. It was easy to install and it was nice not to use tools. It has a good price point. Space was adequate.

Best for the Buck
The box looks great on top of the Outback. We purchased at the last minute when we decided to bring our kids friends along on vacation, and realized we need more room for “stuff”. It was delivered one day before scheduled, and in perfect condition. The lock on the cargo box needs improvement. The very first time I used it the chrome key way rain flap was dislodged preventing me from inserting the key. I was able to get it corrected but I worry about it happening again when my wife doesn’t have me around to fix it. Other than that, I was totally impressed by the quality and price.

Vista XL Roof Cargo Box
Only one disappointment: we had to add two holes in the bottom of the box on a very common car (Lexus 350). Otherwise a great function and appearance.

So Much Space.
This carrier is a bit boxy looking compared to the expensive Thule or Yakima carriers, but wow does it carry a lot of stuff! One huge tent, 4 bulky sleeping bags, a smaller suitcase, a king sized blanket, 3 large pillows, 3 fishing rods, 1 bow, 2 air mattresses, 2 tarps, 2 large umbrellas, and assorted other smaller items (and there was still room for more). Opening from the back means there is no chance of it blowing open. We drove 2000 miles, several days in strong wind with heavy rain. Everything stayed dry, and no noise from the carrier. Even with the wind and traveling 70-80 miles per hour, we averaged about 26 mpg with our Subaru Outback. The carrier is sturdy and a fantastic value!

Sportrack 2016 BMW X5
Looks great! Extremely fast shipping and extra care to ensure it was not damaged prior to departing! Hardware (mainly the bottom brace) could have some kind of coating on it to prevent scratching the crossbars. Also, black stickers to cover the unused holes could be upgraded to rubber plugs. Minor critiques on a great product!

Great Rooftop Carrier
We bought this for our cross-country move to add some extra storage to our Subaru Forrester. We had no trouble installing this carrier; instructions were clear and straightforward. The top withstood high winds while open, which I thought it might not. It also holds quite a bit more than I expected it to as well. This is the first car carrier I have used and it held up very well during our long trip in late winter (California to Kentucky). The only trouble or problem we had with the carrier is that you can't really access the contents without a step ladder. So we put only things in the carrier we wanted to travel with us and not the movers, but things we really didn't need to get to until we arrived at our destination. It is not impossible to access, but really not convenient without a step ladder. I am 5.4 and my husband is 5.10, so maybe if we were taller, it might have worked easier. We even took the carrier through the car wash and it didn't budge. So, overall, this was just the thing we needed to help with our move and for the price of two hundred and something with 75 dollars shipping it did the trick. I was skeptical as some of the other brands were lots more expensive. We are really glad we got this one!!

SportRack SR7018 Roof Cargo Rack
The new cargo box was in great condition when we received it. I had to drill a couple of holes towards the back end of the cargo box because the cargo box didn't fit on the Honda CRV and was crushing my radio antenna. After moving it up about 6 inches it seems to work well and doesn't cover the sunroof. I had my wife go to work and leave the car outside with the cargo carrier on. Very little water got into the carrier, which I am sure will be mitigated after putting the black sticker over the holes that I did not use. So far it is a great product and looks like it can hold a lot of the items we won't be able to fit into the car for our vacation in May. Thanks, Chris.
