This may be the most versatile Jeep bumper ever designed. It has raised corners for impressive ground clearance off-road, but has also undergone extensive design and testing to meet stringent international pedestrian safety standards, so it's also the perfect bumper for cruising Main Street. Designed for maximum strength and functionality, the stylishly chiseled shape will also make an attractive addition to the rear of your Jeep.
But in addition to its great looks and off-road capability, this bumper has unbeatable functionality. Start with a tow rated Class III 2" receiver hitch and D-ring mounts, then add the swing-away tire carrier, with an adjustable tire mount that enables you to carry up to a 37" tall tire while providing easy access to your tailgate. The carrier's easy opening latch requires only 2 fingers to operate, but also includes a double-catch feature to prevent accidental opening. A new cam-style pin adjustment ensures that the carrier will close perfectly every time and you'll get long wear life from the stainless steel pivot washer.
Along with its tire carrying capacity, the tire carrier also includes integrated gas can and/or off-road jack mounts, and hauling ability is enhanced further by the Molle/Pals (Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment/Pouch Attachment Ladder System) system, which enables multiple pouch mounting configurations. The Molle/Pals system also allows you to remove the pouches and mount them on any backpack that features the Molle/Pals system, for the ultimate in versatility. Now you can load your gear into the pouches, wheel into the back country, and then take it with you hiking.
The XRC Atlas rear bumper is manufactured from 3/16" cold rolled steel, and once in final form the bumper is acid dipped to remove impurities, a special "E-Coat" is applied inside and out, and finally a dual stage textured black powder coat finish is applied. Designed to be a direct bolt-on installation, it's covered by a 5-year limited warranty against finish defects and a Smittybilt Advantage limited lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
Fitment Note: Always check the towing specifications for your specific vehicle before attempting to tow anything. The vehicle's towing capability ultimately determines what you are able to tow, not the hitch rating.
Smittybilt®, located in Compton, California, is the leader in the off-road parts and accessories market because they were there at its inception. Founder Basil Smith, also known as "Smitty", was one of the original Southern California 4WD enthusiasts. He started a business called Rock-ett Products, making specialized equipment for trucks and Jeeps, in his garage/machine shop in 1956. Smitty's son Tom began working at Rock-ett at an early age and became head of the ever-expanding enterprise when it became Smittybilt in the 1970s. Under Tom's leadership, the company created innovative products like the original "Nerf Bar" side step, and tubular front and rear bumpers for Jeeps. Today, thanks to their continued involvement in off-roading at all levels of the staff, which enables them to keep abreast of the latest trends and needs in the off-road market, Smittybilt remains the industry leader with a selection of over 2000 different products for trucks and SUVs.
