The fuel filler neck mounts to the body behind the fuel filler door recess, and connects to the fuel tank with a rubber hose. The filler neck on most modern vehicles also includes a tube that is connected to the fuel tank at one end and the filler neck at the other end, near the gas cap opening. This tube sends fuel back into the filler neck when the tank approaches the full level, in order to shut off the gas pump nozzle.
