The Trailduster is a full-size SUV manufactured by the American automaker Plymouth from 1974 to 1981 in two generations, being the only SUV by the brand. The model was also known as the Dodge Ramcharger, though Dodge's version was produced for a longer period of time, up to 2001. It was constructed on the shortened pickup AD platform by Chrysler and featured a four-wheel drive layout. The Plymouth Trailduster utilized a 5.2 L LA V8 motor in the base, and more powerful engines, a 5.9 L V8, 6.6 L big-block V8, and 7.2 L RB V8 were optional. The list of gearboxes included a 4-speed manual and 3-speed TorqueFlite automatic. Starting in 1978 the power output of some optional motors was increased – a 5.9 L power unit became good for 195 hp and a 6.6 L engine could deliver 215 hp.

The Trailduster was available in a sole body style – a 2-door SUV. Models of the first generation were offered without a roof or with a fabric top installed at the dealership. A removable roof made of steel with a flip up rear tailgate window or a vinyl soft top could be ordered optionally. Up to 1976 the model was positioned a basic utility vehicle, that's why the passenger seat and rear bench were optional with only driver's seat being standard equipment. There was an option of covering the bed area with carpet or rubber. The distinctive feature of the model, that was praised by reviewers, was a center console ice chest. For the 1981 model year, the Plymouth Trailduster was redesigned together with the pickups of the D Series by Dodge.

The second-generation Trailduster was also offered as a 2-door SUV only, though it received a non-removable (regular) welded steel top. The model came with a shortened list of optional engines, which included a 5.2 L V8 and 5.9 L V8. Transmissions were still a 4-speed manual and 3-speed automatic. The production run of the Plymouth Trailduster came to an end in 1981, just the year after the redesign, unlike its Dodge sibling that was available until 2001.
