In the early days of the automatic transmission, there may have been only five or six transmission models in service. Today, that number is nearly 250 (and growing). Pioneer Automotive® was founded in 1946 by the late Herman A. Shields, who owned a successful automotive parts manufacturer’s representative firm in his hometown of Meridian, Mississippi.
