Hood hinge pins can become worn, which can affect the hood's position when closed and interfere with hood raising and lowering. Hood catches can become fatigued and no longer keep proper tension on the hood, allowing it to rattle or open unexpectedly. Seals and bumpers can become cracked and brittle, preventing adjustment and keeping the hood from closing in the right position. On late model hoods, hydraulic supports can become fatigued and no longer support the hood.
