When roller bearings go bad they can cause a rumbling sound, but when pinion bearings are defective they can cause a high pitched whine. Roller bearings are generally very dependable, but they can fail from a lack of lubricant, such as would be caused by a leak, normal wear from use and age, or from foreign material contamination, possibly from other components deteriorating in the differential.
This kit includes the bearings and seals that will restore your differential to proper operating condition. Shims are included to ensure critical dimensions like pinion depth, bearing preload and backlash can be adjusted properly. All necessary hardware like ring gear bolts and pinion locknut are also included to make sure the job can be completed properly.
