Electronic Pad Wear Sensor by Monroe®. If the light on your dash came on alerting you to the need for brake pad replacement, one or more of your electric wire wear sensors also requires replacement. Installing new Monroe electric wire wear sensors is part of a complete brake job and will make your warning system fully operational.
- Replaces wire wear sensors that have worn through and contacted the rotor
- Restores warning system functionality
- OE-style for perfect fit
- Easy installation
Electric Wire Wear Sensors alert you that your brake pads are worn, so you can replace them before there is a metal to metal contact between the pad backing plate and the brake rotor. Such contact usually destroys the brake rotor making a brake job even more expensive. However, the wear sensor is a sacrificial part and must also be replaced if the dash light illuminated. The sensor is located in a part of the brake pad that allows some pad material to be left after the warning light is turned on so you have time to schedule the repair. The rotor wears away the sensor when that part of the pad is reached, grounding the exposed metal part of the sensor. When the sensor wears in this manner, it must be replaced. Installing new Monroe wear sensors will ensure your pad wear warning system is fully functional and ready to alert you the next time you need new brake pads.
