Clutch Pressure Plate by LuK®. The clutch pressure plate, together with the flywheel and the clutch disc, form a friction system mounted to the flywheel via bolts through the clutch housing. It employs a release system to interrupt and reconnect the flow of power from the engine to the transmission. The clutch pressure plate consists of the following components – the clutch housing, pressure plate, diaphragm spring and tangential leaf spring.
During engagement, diaphragm spring force is applied to the pressure plate, and pushes its frictional surface against the clutch disc, which is in contact with the flywheel. During disengagement, the diaphragm spring undergoes deformation in such a way that the tangential leaf spring is able to lift the pressure plate off the clutch disc.
LuK® is a leading manufacturer of the systems and components for vehicle's powertrains. It was the first company in Europe which engineered the diaphragm spring clutch with a release system which is now installed in every third new car. At present the company manufactures dampers, components for clutch systems, transmissions, as well as products for tractors. The newest innovative product developments of LuK are the automation of manual transmissions, torque converters, and components for CVT transmissions that could handle more than 300 Nm of torque.
