Muscle Engine Mount (24084) by Lakewood®. Lakewood offers individual replacement side motor mounts designed for small- and big-block Chevrolet V8 engines. Heavy-duty design features a steel frame and bracket joined to a hard-durometer rubber block, preventing engine and transmission from shifting out of alignment in the highest torque applications. Replace old mounts that have failed and eliminate hard thunk transmission shifts, vibration, and stress on axles, driveshafts, and seals. Safety interlock design ensures steel mount pieces will stay hooked together without breaking apart, even if rubber should fail. Engine mounts have the duty of securing your vehicle's power plant to the frame, and they must also keep the engine positioned at the exact height and location it was designed to operate at – while absorbing annoying vibrations that can be detrimental to sensitive electronic components. When engine mounts get old, they tend to sag, collapse, or break apart. Both are built with harder rubber that's more durable than most rubber you'll find on the market today. As a result, they provide effective vibration damping without normal rubber squish. In the unlikely event that the rubber section fails under extreme pressure at the track, heavy-gauge steel mount sections are interlocked together as a backup measure. Instead of the mount breaking free completely, the interlocked sections will stay hooked together for safety. A durable layer of powder coat finish effectively stands up to extreme temperatures, and will resist degrading after heavy exposure to road grime, salt, or even leaking fluids.
