There are many performance exhaust system manufacturers that make extravagant power claims, with a lot of talk about increased flow with huge exhaust tubing. But their systems usually make the most power at 5000-6000 rpm, an rpm range seldom used on the street, even by performance vehicles. And those sewer pipe sized tubes actually reduce torque at lower rpm, where you need it the most.

The Gibson Swept Side Cat-Back Exhaust System is designed and built to make horsepower and torque for real world driving conditions. Dyno results show that this system makes maximum horsepower and torque at 1800-3000 rpm, where you can feel it during every day driving and where you need it when doing things like towing a trailer. And along with that increased power and improved performance you get better fuel economy and a nice deep, aggressive exhaust tone.

Gibson designed this exhaust system at their fully equipped research and development center, using engine and chassis dynos, flow benches and audio testing equipment. To make useable real world power, Gibson equips this system with a Suspended Flow Technology (SFT) design muffler and mandrel bent tubing. The all-welded construction SFT design muffler is baffled and chambered for better volume efficiency with unrestricted flow. It's so efficient it has only 5% exhaust flow restriction, as opposed to the 34% or more restriction in a typical stock muffler, and the 10-20% restriction that exists with some aftermarket mufflers. And the increased flow and great sound is achieved without using any muffler packing, so there's no packing to blow out. Your exhaust flow and sound will remain consistent throughout the life of the muffler.

The other key to less restriction and improved flow is mandrel bent tubing. First Gibson selects the optimal tubing diameter for the best engine efficiency, not the most exhaust flow, then they use CNC mandrel tube benders to make every tubing bend. Mandrel bending ensures smooth bends and makes sure the pipe maintains its size and shape throughout the entire length. Tubes that aren't mandrel bent can lose a percentage of their diameter in sharp bends, creating restriction. CNC mandrel bending provides consistent bending so every system flows as designed.

Finally, all Gibson exhaust system components are joined with a “slip fit”, where an exhaust system component fits into the larger opening of the next downstream component. This method reduces the turbulence that is common with ‘ball-and-socket” or “flange-and-gasket” joints, which can cause power-robbing backpressure.

The Gibson Swept Side Cat-Back Exhaust System is available in your choice of stainless steel or aluminized steel. Each comes with a highly polished T304 stainless steel clampless exhaust tip. The system comes with everything required for installation, including zinc plated factory style hangers and clamps, and detailed instructions. Aluminized systems are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship, but not rust through, for as long as the original purchaser owns the vehicle on which the system is installed. Stainless steel systems are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship, including rust through, for as long as the original purchaser owns the vehicle on which the system is installed.

Gibson exhaust systems are manufactured in the USA.

Gibson® Performance Exhaust is a family run company based in Corona, California. Owners Ron and Julie Gibson started the company after they couldn't find performance products to meet their own needs, and decided to build exhaust systems themselves. Today Gibson is one of the largest aftermarket performance exhaust products companies in the world. Gibson is committed to building cost-effective exhaust systems that deliver more performance for the dollar, and make more horsepower and torque in the lower rpm range, where it's needed for real world driving. All of Gibson's street applications are 50-state emissions legal and do not affect the factory warranty.

Product Labeled Correctly
Really easy to mount. The only issue I had was mounting the over axle pipe to the outlet side of the muffler. The clamps wouldn't secure the pipe. Easy fix though, just saw an "x" pattern on the muffler outlet pipe about 1 in deep and it will close on the pipe.

Very Disappointed
I searched for a while to find an exhaust made for my truck that I could also get in stainless steel. Finally decided on the Gibson because it was what I wanted and American made which was a plus. It took 5 days to get here, which I was pleased with. When it got here, it had the wrong muffler (sent me a dual outlet when I needed a single outlet). This I do not believe was CARiD`s fault. Contacted Gibson to get the correct muffler and they said we would have a tracking number in a couple of days. We waited a few days for the tracking number and never got it. After contacting Gibson again, they then told us they had to get the old one back before they sent the correct one. Went through their process and finally got the tracking number. After a full month since ordering, the correct muffler finally came. They wouldn't even send an extra sticker with it. Installing took about 2 hours. This muffler was rated loud/aggressive on CARiD`s website but it is very quite. Hopefully it gets louder as the muffler breaks in. I am very disappointed with Gibson's service. Want 1 star to show so I had to give every category one star. I would actually give all of them 4 to 5 stars but this exhaust was such a pain to get correctly here, I would not recommend. I would go with a Banks or Flowmaster instead.

Great Value
It's a little quieter than I wanted but for the price it was money well spent.

Looks good, the sound is pretty good for the price. Was a little louder than I thought but overall I’m loving it.

Good Quality Exhaust
Installation was a little tricky but can be done in your own garage. Sound is noticeable but not as deep and throaty as we were expecting. Shipping from CARiD was great. Product arrived when they dated it would. The reps were easy to talk to and seemed very knowledgeable.
