Product Details

Standard Grade Direct Fit Catalytic Converter by Flowmaster®. Flowmaster's Standard Grade line of Manifold direct fit catalytic converters are specifically designed to meet or exceed OEM specifications for exact fit and performance, and are available for a wide range of popular applications.

Features:

  • Made of High Quality Stainless Steel
  • Improve Torque and Throttle Response
  • Ceramic Catalytic Substrate
  • Well Suited to Muscle Car Applications

These converters all meet USEPA emissions standards and include a 25,000 mile emissions warranty, and 50,000 mile/5 year stainless steel exterior casing warranty. These cannot be shipped to California addresses or be installed on vehicles in other states that have adopted all or parts of California emissions standards.

The exhaust gases from an engine carry considerable energy. This energy can be put to use through careful design of the components that make up the exhaust system. Flowmaster has put a lot of R&D-efforts into the crucial components where gases from different cylinders join. If these parts of the exhaust system are improperly designed, the exhaust forces from the different cylinders can create uncontrolled turbulence that robs the engine of torque and power. Flowmaster’s patented D-port design ensures that the force in the exhaust pulses is properly used to improve scavenging. With the D-port design, the exhaust pulses mainly stay in the same pipe, with the D-port acting as an air pump, creating a low-pressure zone in the adjoining pipe. This low-pressure zone pulls the oncoming exhaust pulse in the second pipe out from the engine, and when this pulse passes the D-port, it does the same for the exhaust in the first pipe.

The Scavenger Series X-pipe is also designed to let certain frequencies of pressure and sound waves cross over between the pipes, to cancel each other out. This reduces interior sound in the vehicle, and the energy lost when the sound waves collide helps create the low-pressure area in the X-pipe that is key to its positive effect on exhaust scavenging.

Flowmaster® has its roots in solving the engine noise problems encountered by California racers in the 1980s. In 1983 Flowmaster’s founder, Ray Flugger, created his first patented design of racing silencers, which dampened noise with minimal loss of power. Ray attached handles to ease carrying the square shaped race mufflers through the race pits, and the mufflers became known as the "suitcase mufflers." Today, the innovative Flowmaster mufflers are the result of years of development with top race engine builders, thousands of hours of dyno research and "real-world" on-track testing.

This warranty is void if the product was not installed properly on the vehicle, was installed on a vehicle for which it was not designed, or was removed from the vehicle on which it was originally installed and reinstalled on another vehicle. This warranty shall not apply to normal wear, cosmetic issues such as coatings and material discoloration, any product that was installed on a racing vehicle, installed improperly or contrary to Flowmaster instructions, altered, misused, repaired, damaged from an accident, collision, undercarriage road impact or debris, or willful or negligent act.
