Warranty

CompressorWorks warrants its products to its direct purchasers. CompressorWorks will, at its discretion, repair, replace or issue credit (based upon the original net selling price) on such products, which are actually defective during the warranty period.

Product warranty periods

Compressors for passenger cars and light-duty trucks and vans (commercial and fleet use not included)
Two (2) years from the date of installation or 24,000 miles from the mileage at the time of installation, whichever comes first.

Compressors for farm equipment and heavy-duty trucks (commercial and fleet use included)
One (1) year from the date of installation or 100,000 miles from the mileage at the time of installation, whichever comes first.

Fan clutches for passenger cars and light trucks (commercial and fleet use not included)
One (1) year from the date of installation or 12,000 miles from the mileage at the time of installation, whichever comes first.

Fan clutches for heavy-duty trucks (commercial and fleet use included)
One hundred twenty (120) days from the date of installation.

Refrigerant identifiers, recovery/recycling and charging, power flushing machines, electronic thermometers, charging scales, vacuum pumps, fluorescent and electronic leak detectors.
One (1) year from the date of purchase.

All other equipment, tools and service items
One hundred twenty (120) days from the date of original purchase.

All other Compressor Works climate control replacement parts
One hundred twenty (120) days from the date of installation.

Certain exceptions, limitations, conditions and service procedures (with documentation) apply to this warranty.

Warranty determination is the sole responsibility of CompressorWorks. No one is authorized to act on behalf of CompressorWorks. The product alleged to be defective will be inspected according to CompressorWorks standards, and CompressorWorks will verify the purchaser’s compliance with conditions of the warranty.

Limitations - All products (Additional compressor limitations are listed separately):
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the following limitations apply:

1. This limited warranty only applies to the registered vehicle owner for which the CompressorWorks part is installed or to the original purchaser of equipment, tools, or service units.
2. Warranty only applies to products purchased in the fifty (50) United States, District of Columbia, and Mexico.
3. CompressorWorks will not accept for warranty any product, which has failed due to improper installation, misapplication, or abuse. Please, refer to the installation instructions for further details.
4. This limited warranty extends from the date of purchase or service as shown on a purchase receipt. An installation receipt or purchase receipt indicating proper service procedures and support, must be included with each returned compressor.
5. This limited warranty shall automatically expire in the event that the vehicle, in which a CompressorWorks product is installed, incurs physical damage such as but not limited to fire, flood or a collision resulting in any damage to the vehicle engine compartment or any surrounding body parts.
6. CompressorWorks A/C products are warranted for use with only CFC12 or HFC134a refrigerants. CFC12 or HFC134a must be used with the proper system lubricant, such as mineral, PAG or Ester lubricant, for the particular vehicle. Use of any other refrigerant types or blends or any other lubricants or system sealers will immediately void the CompressorWorks limited warranty.
7. This limited warranty shall not apply to any failure of a CompressorWorks product caused by improper maintenance of a vehicle’s air conditioning system or failure of any other system component.
8. CompressorWorks products must be installed in strict accordance with the packaged installation and use instructions. These instructions may require additional service procedures and the replacement of other air conditioning components.
9. Except as expressly provided herein, CompressorWorks disclaims any and all warranties, expressed or implied, including but not limited to any warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
10. Parts must be installed on the application specified by CompressorWorks. If a part is used on an application other than one approved or cataloged by CompressorWorks, the warranty will automatically be void.

B. Limitations

The following additional limitations apply to CompressorWorks

Limited warranty on compressor products

This air conditioning compressor carries a 24 month/24,000 mile limited warranty with documentation showing the following service procedures were performed. Failure to follow these instructions will void your warranty.

Servicing a mobile climate control system is a complicated process requiring specialty tools and access to technical information. If you are not familiar with the following processes and procedures, it is advised to seek the expertise of a qualified professional technician. Make sure you follow all Federal, State and Local Regulations with respect to the handling and disposal of chemicals and refrigerant. Proper A/C performance is dependent on all systems performing correctly. Typically, compressor failure is a symptom of a deficiency with the A/C, cooling or electrical systems within a vehicle. Make certain that the engine cooling system is at peak operation, and that the cooling fan/fan clutch is operating properly. Worn belts, idlers and tensioners can cause poor cooling system performance due to belt slippage. Low voltage at the A/C clutch assembly can cause premature compressor failure.

A clean A/C system is imperative:
When a compressor fails, tiny internal particles mix with oil and spread throughout the entire system. This contaminated oil as well as moisture and other corrosives must be removed to avoid premature failure of the replacement compressor. Clean the entire system thoroughly with an effective cleaning agent such as Dura II and/or replace contaminated parts. Air alone does not remove contaminants. Two methods used today are effective in removing oil and contaminants: (1) liquid cleaning with an effective cleaning agent and (2) closed loop power cleaning using refrigerant. Newer condenser designs are difficult, if not impossible to thoroughly clean, and in many cases must be replaced.

Replace the filter drier or accumulator:
Filter driers and accumulators contain desiccant material. This material is designed to absorb the moisture that has seeped into the A/C system. Moisture in an A/C system can form corrosive contaminates that will cause rapid system failure. It is very important to remove all moisture from the A/C system before charging.

Replace the refrigerant control devices:
The orifice tube is a control and filter device for accumulator systems, and should always be replaced to ensure proper refrigerant and oil flow through the system. The thermal expansion valve is the control device for systems using a receiver/drier. It should be examined and replaced, if found to be contaminated.

Lubrication:
The only moving component in the A/C system is the compressor, and adequate lubrication is critical. If oil or refrigerant charges are incorrect, internal damage to the compressor will occur! If uncertain about the proper lubricant type or amount, refer to the O.E. service manual or look at the underhood decal.

The compressor may contain lubricant. Be sure to drain any oil and add the correct type and amount of lubricant per specific system specifications. To assure compressor lubrication, install half the required system oil in the suction side. This may require turning the compressor shaft as the oil is added. The remaining amount of required system oil should be added in the accumulator or low side of the system. To insure that the front seal is lubricated and does not leak, after the oil is installed, the compressor must be placed or held with the front seal down for 1 to 3 minutes, to allow oil to coat the seal. If this seal is not lubricated before installation, refrigerant may leak. Always rotate the compressor shaft at least 10 revolutions after the hoses are connected and prior to starting the engine. This will pump the excess liquid lubricant out of the compressor cylinders and into the system.

Proper evacuation:
The A/C system must be free of moisture and air to work properly. Removing the air and moisture with an A/C system vacuum pump for forty five minutes to an hour is necessary to deliver proper long-lasting A/C performance.

Use only the recommended refrigerant type and amount:
Only R12 or R134a can be used to maintain proper system performance. The correct amount of charge is critical for system efficiency and durability, because the refrigerant carries the lubricant through the system. Specifications can be found at the underhood decal or in the O.E. service manual.

Clutch:
Clutch coil voltage should be within one volt of system operating voltage. Anything less weakens the magnetic force of the clutch allowing slippage, increased heat, and failure. Clutch air gap (between hub and pulley) is important and should be checked before installation to assure no changes have occurred during shipping and handling.

Verify the repair:
1. Use an electronic leak detector or fluorescent dye to check for leaks. A leak will cause system failure. When repairs are finished, insure that the job is done right the first time by doing temperature drop testing. 2. When a warranty is processed, if warranty credit is denied, a code that specifies the reasons for the final decision is assigned to the warranty. The following codes and explanations are assigned to returns that do not meet the requirements that have been outlined herein. When the warranty on a part is turned down for any of the following reasons, core credit only (where applicable) will be issued.

CompressorWorks will not be responsible for returning the part to the sender. Therefore, it is vital that all warranty requirements have been documented and that this documentation is included with each compressor before it is sent in for warranty.

3. This is for compressors only. If a compressor has no paperwork (CODE 90) or is not made or sold by CompressorWorks (CODE 93), the customer will be asked to see whether they want the compressor returned or wish to receive core credit only.
