Centric® 141.40086 - Remanufactured Semi-Loaded Front Driver Side Brake Caliper

I'm pleased with these rear calipers. Everything went well, and they came with bleeder screws. The only thing I found lacking was the quality of the rubber caps on the guide pins. They fit loosely. I've already found one lying on my driveway, and all I've been doing is moving the car around to work on it. Soon they all will fall out and be lost.

Caliper was a direct fit, bled easily, and has functioned flawlessly since I installed it.

Looks like new. Works great.

This review is for brake calipers front and rear for 2005 Sprinter 3500 (with 285 mm rotors). These calipers are a good value if you plan to sell your Sprinter soon and let the next owner deal with maintenance headaches. They would have been a perfect replacement were it not for two issues: my largest complaint is that the bleed-valve internal threads were never re-machined. Not just in one caliper, but in all four calipers that I received. Because of prior rust (or being media-blasted) the bleed valve threads are somewhat loose in the holes unless they are completely tightened. There is enough slop that when you crack the valve open for bleeding, brake fluid immediately starts leaking past the threads and soon dripping down the caliper and wherever gravity takes it from there. This when cracking the valves open between 1/16 and 1/8 of a turn. These threaded holes should have been re-machined but weren't. This resulted in a considerable amount of brake fluid leaking down the outside of the calipers and making a mess, getting on the brake pads (which require removal to properly clean), and a puddle on the ground despite having attached a bleeder hose. The 2nd complaint is the poor paint-job. Due to engine problems my Sprinter sits parked on the street next to my house. Despite just sitting there, all of the Centric calipers have a patina of rust on them. They were nice and shiny when they arrived, but whatever coating was applied by Centric seems to have dissolved from just sitting there. Hmmm. Maybe all of that brake fluid that leaked past the bleed valves took off the paint? If properly painted and baked, though, the paint would have resisted being washed with brake fluid.

Product came in excellent condition already pressed with instructions on core returns and all the screws, washers and brake pad guides needed to do the replacement. Fit well as expected. Worked like new.

Back driver's caliper started leaking on my 2007 MDX. Good thing we discovered it while parked in the garage. Stuck though. Would cost 3x as much to tow and get repaired at the shop. I found CARiD using a search for this part. Clean, well put together site. Navigated directly to the correct parts for my car. Fair price. Decided to get both driver and passenger sides. Ships in 2 days was advertised. Shipped in 2 as promised. Didn't realize I would be waiting another 5 days for it to arrive. That was very inconvenient since it's the official "soccer mom car" and gets the kids, groceries and runs the errands. Wife harped a little. We're spoiled by Amazon. Box came with directions on what to put back for core refund but no return shipping label. Everything was clean and very new looking. Made me feel confident it would work fine. Replaced the parts, packaged up everything as instructed. That's when I realized there was no return shipping label for the core refund. Had to email for the label. Got an auto reply right away but took a few days to get a real reply. Another couple days to get the return label. Shipped the parts. Now waiting for the refund. Breaks work great! Overall, wife happy she has her MDX back. All that matters.
