Mechanical fuel pumps are generally 'puller' type pumps with a good suction ability, and are intended for use in vehicles which do not require high fuel pressure. The main operating component of this pump type is a diaphragm that is pushed up and down to move the fuel. This mechanical fuel pump by Carter has a stamped steel valve chamber with larger diameter diaphragm for high capacity and excellent vapor handling characteristics.
