The Audi 4000 was first represented in the USA in 1980. It was designed for replacing the outdated Audi Fox. Initially it was powered by a 1.6 L 4-cylinder engine with a 4-speed manual gearbox. In 1981 a 4-cylinder engine was enhanced to 1.7 L, and a 5-speed manual gearbox became standard. In 1984 a 4-cylinder engine was enhanced once more to 1.8L. Now the cabin of the car has 4 seats, its engine volume is 2,144 cubic centimeters, and it is equipped with an automatic gearbox only.
