Today vehicles with an automatic transmission are very popular among both new and well-experienced drivers. This is because the automatic transmission is simpler to operate, which means it's more comfortable for long trips. Just like a manual transmission, the automatic transmission's primary purpose is to allow the engine to operate in its narrow range of speeds while providing a wide range of output speeds. The main difference between a manual and an automatic transmission is that the manual transmission achieves the various gear ratios by locking and unlocking different sets of gears to the output shaft, while in an automatic transmission, the same set of gears produces all of the different gear ratios.

Both systems have hardware which ensures quiet and reliable performance of the whole system. In the automatic transmission, worn out or damaged seals, gaskets, or bushings can cause fluid leaking; damaged or corroded transmission drive chains and clogged filter result in poor transmission performance. To ensure your transmission system operates at its peak, replace its worn out or damaged components with ATP products. Every part is made to original equipment specifications so you can be assured of perfect fit and function. Made of premium quality materials, the products ensure superior durability for long-lasting service life.

Question:
How do I tell if I have the 7.5 ring gear or the 8.5 ring gear in my 2001 gmc jimmy 4wd rear differential
Posted by Customer / October 08, 20222001 GMC Jimmy
CARiD Answer:
Hello, there should be a label in your glove box or trunk under the spare tire called a "Service Parts Identification" sticker (RPO Codes). Each code shown on that label corresponds to something on your vehicle. Look for G87 (8.5 " ring gear) or G89 (7.5 " ring gear) on the label.
