For 2019, the most affordable vehicle by Jeep, the Renegade underwent its first facelift. Its front end now features more angular elements and revised headlights featuring rectangular center sections and squared off cutouts instead of the former circular ones. LED headlights incorporating Wrangler-inspired graphics are available optionally. A corporate 7-slot grille of the 2019 Jeep Renegade now comes with sharper slot edges. Its trim is lighter compared to the rest of the Renegade’s body, providing two-tone aesthetics. Fog lights were moved from the edges of the front bumper closer to its center. There is a lower grille between the fog lights and there are no tow hooks in front. The Trailwawk and Limited versions of the 2019 Jeep Renegade received the redesigned front fascias and darkened LED and Xenon exterior lighting that mimics the look of the new Jeep Wrangler. The new bumper of the Limited edition features a lower air intake and incorporates new body-colored panels, turn signals, and fog lights. The revised version of the 2019 Jeep Renegade now includes 19-inch alloy wheels.
The interior of the 2019 Jeep Renegade offers a number of updates as well. The HVAC controls layout was changed – the buttons similar to the ones found in the Compass are now located under the infotainment display and there are no knobs or buttons around it. The Renegade receives the latest version of the Uconnect infotainment system that features Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The display is bigger now, with the largest option offering a diagonal of 8.4 inches. It is a significant step forward over the previous 7-inch screen. The Advanced Tech Group package gained new technologies for 2019, including a self-parking system, parking sensors in front, and adaptive cruise control.
For the 2019 model year, all of the engines available for the Renegade are mated exclusively to a 9-speed automatic, with a 6-speed manual option being ditched. One more big upgrade powertrain-wise is the all-new 1.3-liter turbo four that supersedes the previous 1.4-liter unit. Although it is smaller, it offers a lot more power and torque – 177 hp and 200 lb.-ft. versus the old engine's 160 hp and 184 lb.-ft. It is now a standard engine on the Limited and Trailhawk trim levels while being an optional offering on the Sport and Latitude. A 2.4 L Tigershark I4 capable of producing 180 hp is still offered as standard. All variants of the model can be fitted with either FWD or AWD, except for the Trailhawk that comes exclusively with AWD. Besides, all AWD models feature selectable drive modes for various terrains. Equipped with the Tigershark engine, AWD and tow package, the Jeep Renegade is capable of towing 2,000 lb. The model also delivers excellent fuel economy, returning up to 31 mpg. To further improve gas mileage, new for this year inline-four engine adds active grille shutters and stop-start on every model save for the Trailhawk. Apart from notable power and fuel efficiency, the Renegade provides superior utility – it offers 18.5 cu. ft. behind the second-row seats and up 50.8 cu. ft. when they are folded. The off-road capability that Jeep vehicles are known for is also there.
