In addition, it comes with some distinctive exterior features, including special 19” wheels, unique black grille, and red brake calipers by Brembo.

The 2019 Ford Mustang GT brings back the California Special limited edition – a new design package with a signature fading stripe on the side that traces back from the front wheel well to the rear fender. On the trunk lid, you can find the trademark California Special badge. Under the original-style black open grille, the front bumper receives a splitter from the Mustang Performance Pack 1. The special edition features exclusive five-spoke painted machined wheels. The interior is upgraded with black seats with contrast red stitching and embossed GT California Special insignia which can also be seen on the floor mats and passenger-side dash panel. Ford introduced another special edition, the Series 1 Mustang RTR with the limited batch of 500 cars. The version is available with an upgraded and specially-tuned drift-ready suspension with strut-tower braces and improved brakes. Exterior upgrades include RTR badging, special aerodynamic grille, gurney flap on the rear spoiler, and unique lighting. The interior received a custom shift knob, floor mats, illuminated door sills, and RTR dashboard plate.

The Shelby GT350 rolls into 2019 with a host of updates to the suspension, interior, and aerodynamics. Most importantly, based on the feedback by Billy Johnson, the FIA World Endurance Championship racecar driver, the engineers at Ford recalibrated the springs and damping characteristics of the 2019 Shelby GT350's MagneRide active suspension. New rubber is on the list as well – the new Shelby got Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires with special tread pattern (295/35 front and 305/35 rear), intended to take acceleration and braking performance up a notch on the street and track. Better aerodynamic efficiency comes from a reworked rear spoiler design and Gurney flap (offered as an option) as well as slightly relocated grille. Inside, there's an aluminum or carbon fiber instrument panel featuring front-and-center location, power-adjustable Recaro seats, and new inserts on door panels. Tech-wise, the new standard features are dual-zone climate control, 12'' touchscreen, and 12-speaker audio.

For 2018, the Ford Mustang underwent a mid-cycle refresh, that’s why other versions of the car didn’t get many updates for 2019. The refresh brought a number of powertrain changes. The base engine is now a 2.3 L EcoBoost I4 good for 310 hp, a 3.7 L V6 was dropped. The new base engine delivers excellent fuel economy – up to 32 mpg with an automatic transmission and 31 mpg with a manual one. A 5.0 L V8 used by the GT grade was reworked and now it makes 460 hp – the highest figure for any Mustang GT before. Besides, it returns up to 25 mpg. Transmissions were upgraded too – both manual options deliver increased torque now. The gearbox mated to the V8 was fully redesigned and now features a dual-mass flywheel and twin-disc clutch for more effective clutch modulation and improved torque capability. Both power plants can also be mated to an all-new 10-speed automatic – with optimized gear spacing and wide-ratio span, it is the finest automatic ever used by Mustang.
