Refurbished for the 2017 model year, Hyundai’s iconic Genesis model got rid of the Hyundai prefix along with its daily-driver connotations and is now marketed in the USA as the 2017 Genesis G80. The new standalone Genesis brand targets the high-end market segment and includes the G90 as a flagship model, followed by the G80. Rear-wheel drive is optional for the V6 model. The G80 with its all-steel body and 4,503-pound curb weight is hundreds of pounds heavier than its main rivals, such as the CTS 2.0T by Cadillac. Such a weight, obviously, robs performance -  the V6 model needs 6.6 seconds to achieve 60 mph and 15 seconds to do a quarter-mile run which is inferior to many same-class vehicles. The 2017 Genesis G80 provides average gas mileage for its class. The rear-wheel-drive V6 model is rated at 18/28 mpg, while the V8-powered car features 15 mpg in a city and 23 on a highway.

While the 2017 Genesis G80 doesn’t get the highest scores in performance, it certainly excels in terms of driving comfort. The G80 is equipped with 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels and all-season Michelin Primacy tires. HID headlights, heated and auto-dimming mirrors, adaptive cruise control and climate control, blind-spot detection system, and a rearview camera come as standard features.
