2014 Mitsubishi Lancer Factory Style Spoilers

I own a 2017 Mitsubishi lancer and decided to buy this as my model didn't come with one. Despite not coming with one, there were pre-drilled holes along the bottom of the trunk lid to accompany later installations of what I assumed would be factory style spoilers and universal spoilers. At first glance there two pre-drilled holes that looked absolutely correct for the fitment of this factory style spoiler, so away we drilled. Oh dear, the pre-drilled holes we chose are along the same horizontal plane as the spoiler for the top and bottom thread, but we were wide by about half an inch on each side despite using the pre-drilled holes for a factory style spoiler. I'll admit responsibility for not measuring regardless, but considering how close the pre-drilled holes were to the threads of the spoiler, I would class this as an engineering design flaw just as much as a mistake by me.
