Audi S5 3.0L 2011, XLR™ Pedal Tuning Box by RaceChip®. RaceChip developed the XLR to increase responsiveness on the road. RaceChip's innovative throttle tuning system lets tune your engine’s reactions to your taste – choose from 7 separate stages. You’ll love your car’s improved dynamics. Your engine’s performance isn’t affected by RaceChip XLR, but you can access it more immediately and directly. Experience significantly sharper responses for yourself – no waiting for the message to get through or frustrating “pauses for thought”.
System components:
1) The Brainbox – the nerve centre
The Brainbox is the nerve centre of XLR and not only controls the processes needed to optimise throttle response, it also communicates via Bluetooth with the RaceChip app, meaning you can control XLR direct from your smartphone.
The Brainbox’s compact size (ca. 70 x 80 mm) allows it to be fitted easily in the footwell of your vehicle. As it is so flat, it does not restrict the driver’s legroom at all. It can be fixed almost anywhere in the footwell, for example in existing slots or vents.
2)The XLR Controller
Allows you to choose between 7 stages: Eco+, Eco, Neutral, Sport, Sport+, Race and Race+. Each stage sharpens your car’s throttle response a little more, until in Race+ it’s like a thoroughbred sports car.
You can mount the Controller anywhere in the car so that it’s in the right place for how you want to use it. The size and design mean it fits right in with the rest of the interior and the other control elements.

How RaceChip XLR works:
The RaceChip XLR is installed between the throttle pedal sensor and the engine control unit. Depending on the XLR’s tuning stage, it either amplifes or reduces the signals sent by the throttle pedal sensor in accordance with characteristics defined by RaceChip's engineers. The effect is that you can choose how your car reacts to your throttle inputs.
2 Sport (S, S+) and 2 Race stages (R, R+) sharpen throttle response, speeding up the engine’s reaction times, making it as reactive as even a sportscar’s. 2 Eco stages (E, E+) slow down the engine’s reaction to movements of the throttle. In heavy city traffic and on long journeys, this can help you reduce fuel consumption. You can select N if don’t want or need to use XLR, and your car is back to stock tune.
