A timing belt is designed to synchronize the movement of the engine’s valves and pistons. On many engines, it also drives the oil pump, and water pump. Installed behind the protective cover, this belt is invisible, and that explains how the timing belt has become known as the forgotten belt. When the timing belt breaks the synchronization of the engine parts is lost. When this happens, on most engines the valves interfere with the pistons. As a result, the valves can be broken with possibly even more severe and expensive damage to pistons, cylinders, etc. To avoid this, you should check and follow the manufacturer's recommended intervals for timing belt replacement.
It's also recommended that timing belt tensioners, belt idlers, hydraulic actuators, cam and crankshaft seals as well as water pumps be replaced along with the belt. Designed to ensure constant tensioning, guiding, and precise valve timing, these components have been in use as long as the belt under the same, often extreme, conditions. They are not that expensive. In fact their cost is negligible compared to the labor cost of removing everything necessary to gain access to the timing belt. If the hardware is not replaced with the belt, the life of the newly replaced timing belt can be reduced by as much as 50%.
This kit is designed and manufactured for the replacement of all the main components in a timing belt job such as the timing belt, tensioners, belt idlers, hydraulic actuators, and water pump. In addition, the water pump included comes with gasket as well as springs and hardware, where applicable. Compared to other Dayco kits, this kit includes all the required cam and crankshaft seals. Designed to replace worn or damaged OE parts, all the components included meet or exceed OE quality, form, fit, and function requirements while providing peak long-lasting service life. The kit also includes trilingual installation instructions.
Since 1905, Dayco has been a leader in the automotive parts manufacturing industry. During the early 1900s, Dayco was the first and only company manufacturing the airless tire. By the 1920s, the company had a robust tire manufacturing process in Dayton, Ohio for cars, large trucks and buses. From its founding to today, the company has followed its primary business strategy to anticipate and satisfy all the needs and requirements of its customers by providing innovative, quality, and durable products. Today its wide product line includes belts, tensioners, pulleys and hydraulics equipment for the automotive, construction, trucking, ATV, agricultural, snowmobile, and industrial markets.
