The Engage brake controller by Hayes activates your trailer brakes with a preset intensity. Then the signal is sent to the trailer brakes when the tow vehicle's brakes are activated. The amount of power sent to the trailer brakes can be adjusted depending on road conditions, trailer type, and load size. For example, when towing on the bumpy road or when your trailer is fully loaded, you can set it to a higher output. When towing an empty trailer, you can set it lower.

The brake controller features a power ramp time setting that lets you adjust the aggressiveness with which the brakes are applied. You can get full power output faster by choosing a low setting that increases the activation speed or you can achieve smoother braking by selecting a higher setting that allows for supplying power gradually. On the front the brake controller is equipped with a LED display showing brake power output, ramp setting and air codes. It also has easily accessible adjustment buttons for changing the settings.

The Engage brake controller has built-in safeguards providing for your safe trailering. For example, a manual override activates the brake lights on the tow vehicle and trailer. There is also a current limiter that protects the vehicle from shorts in the trailer wiring. It also has hazard flasher immunity for preventing pulsing of the brakes when flashers are activated. The Engage brake controller is designed to be used with trailers with up to three axles or six brake assemblies. It can be used with electric or electric over hydraulic trailer brakes.

Hayes® Hayes proudly manufactures electronic brake controllers to cover all towing needs. The first Hayes brake controller rolled out from the assembly line in the 1950's. The company has more than 60 years of experience in producing brake controllers. Hayes has withstood the test of time and still holds leading positions on the automotive market. By incorporating new technologies like the 'quik-connect' system, Hayes is able to stay on the forefront of intelligent brake systems. Hayes brake controllers ensure safe deceleration with extra weight behind your vehicle.
