Accounts from some of our many happy WARN customers can be found here.
Just after WWII Arthur Warn thought it would be great idea if all the surplus Jeeps that were then available could be made into useful road vehicles. He created the original locking wheel hub to make it possible and so was born WARN Industries. By 1954 WARN locking hubs were offered as optional factory equipment by major domestic automobile manufacturers. Later that decade WARN developed the first recreational winch. With its rugged drive train, the WARN winch quickly became the leading brand, and with innovations like the first 3-stage planetary gear train and free-spooling clutch, WARN has remained the industry leader. Today WARN is based in Clackamas, Oregon, and is a division of Dover Corporation, a multi-billion dollar global manufacturer of diversified products. Along with its groundbreaking locking hubs, winches, and other off-road gear, the company also has an industrial division that manufactures hydraulic and electric winches and hoists for towing, hauling, and lifting.

WARN invented the manual locking hub, its the cornerstone of the company. Locking hubs lock the wheels to the drive axles when driving on loose surfaces like dirt, mud, ice, and snow, and 4WD is needed, and they can be unlocked to allow the wheels to freewheel when driving on hard surfaces like pavement, which increases fuel economy and cuts down on wear and tear on the drivetrain. However, factory locking hubs can wear out, and they may not stay engaged or may not disengage, and factory automatic locking hubs can be unreliable, so you may not be able to engage 4WD when youre stuck and need it most. WARN hubs are manufactured using premium quality components like 4140 steel clutch rings and inner drive gears, and precision cast hub bodies, and theyre manufactured to the highest levels of durability, so youll always have 4WD with just the turn of the dial.
WARN is probably most well-known for its trailblazing line of winches. With a WARN winch on your vehicle, theres no such thing as getting stuck. A WARN winch will get you over any hill, through any mud bog, and across any stream. The flagship of WARNs Premium Series is the ZEON. Available in 8000,10,000 and 12,000 lb. pulling capacities, the ZEON is packed with features like a convertible control pack, quiet and durable motor, and fast and reliable gear train that are as revolutionary as its cast aluminum housing. Leading the Ultimate Performance Series is the PowerPlant Dual Force, the worlds first air compressor and winch housed in one unit. Available in 9500 and 12,000 lb. pulling capacities, The PowerPlant can inflate tires and run air tools or deliver the raw pulling power WARN winches are famous for. With your choice of 12,000, 15,000 or 16,500 lb. pulling capacities, the Heavyweight Series is built for pulling heavy loads, with large frames, powerful motors, and heavy-duty construction throughout.
Although WARN made their winching bones with off-road racers and 4WD adventurers, their product line also includes durable and powerful utility winches in capacities from 1000 to 4700 lbs., in both 12V DC and 120V AC configurations. These winches are ideal for loading trailers, moving equipment, etc. The PullzAll is the most innovative winch in the utility winch line. Available in both corded and cordless versions, the PullzAll packs 1000 lbs. of lifting/pulling power in a package the size of a hand tool. At the other end of the spectrum are WARN industrial winches and hoists. Offered in both hydraulic and electric versions in a multitude of capacities, these powerhouses are built with the strongest parts to the highest manufacturing standards to ensure reliable performance day in and day out.
To ensure WARN winches can provide their renowned pulling power, WARN manufactures their winch accessories to the same high standards. Snatch blocks are available in capacities to suit the load, so you can increase your pulling power with a double line pull, or change the pulling direction. Tree trunk protectors and recovery straps are constructed from tough, high-quality nylon webbing with end loops that are reinforced with abrasion resistant wear pads. And to ensure they wont fail unexpectedly, a red warning marker is encased in the webbing. Abrasion or other damage will expose the red marker and indicate that the strap should be replaced. To protect your hands from cuts and abrasions that can result from handling wire winch rope, WARN synthetic leather/Kevlar gloves feature extra reinforcements for knuckle and fingertip protection, shock absorbing palms, terry cloth sweat wipe, and neoprene wrist and pull strap.
Easy to mount the winch onto the plate, and plugged right into my SUV hitch. If you have a WARN system and are planning on pulling from your hitch, this is what you are looking for.
This is the best basic winch you can get. Don't be fooled into buying any of the cheaper ones. Learn from my mistakes. It does what it says it does. Pulls four tons. Has paid for itself in my case with one emergency use. Had to pull and lift 2.5 tons which it did with ease. I would recommend having a snatch block and either a chain or heavy strap to give more options when needed. It is not always possible to get the truck with the winch in exactly the right spot. The snatch block allows for more choices.
I'll say it again, M8000 now comes with a mounting bracket so no need to order another unless you want a spare...So far I have only operated it to stretch the line. It seems everyone has one of these. One thing I should have considered- my driving habits. I know many people submerge their winches without problem and I do my fair share of water crossings.... I'm not saying don't get this if you see any water...it's just something to consider Great price for one of Warns top selling winches- lifetime warranty- Warns ultimate reliability. I'll update after more use. Aside from the winch you'll need to invest in a few things. A tree protector strap (not an ordinary tow strap), a snatch block or two (doubles your pulling capacity), shackle or two, heavy duty gloves, and a heavy blanket or jacket. You can buy a kit which includes much of what you need.
This Winch is fantastic... pulls almost anything with ease. Would defiantly recommend this for anyone who is thinking about a winch... save yourself the time and effort, and buy a quality product from the beginning. I know it is a little more expensive, but it is a quality product that I will stake my reputation on. P.S. Make sure you have a good Battery.
Lets you make a portable winch out of many utility and vehicle winches. This anchor plate is very solid, about 1/4" thick steel. Looking at the picture, I was a little concerned with how the chains connect to the anchor, but the chain connections are very solid. The chain and clevis hooks are high quality. The pre-drilled holes fit other brands of winches. About the only thing is that the hooks are not clevis hooks, they are the U type and for looping the chains onto one another, this setup is less then ideal. But the U hooks are better for connecting to pulling straps.
This has been worth the money thus far. It is fast, powerful and looks very nice as opposed to other winches which have solenoids and other bits seemingly glommed on to the winch. This unit is one complete, sealed piece and is much lighter than other winches in it's class (mostly due to the synthetic line). Includes everything required for a basic install unless you want to do what I did which is install the Warn quick-connect so you can easily unplug the winch and plug in jumper cables.
Fits pretty nice on my M8000 winch. I'd say about 90% of a custom fit. Keep in mind this is made to cover a few models so it won't be perfect, but should be better than most. I'm running a PSC bumper and skid so I needed to use longer bungee cables to wrap underneath the bumper. It will do the job and keep my winch protected. You have to remember, when you are on the highway in the rain, you have 65mph water hitting your winch and solenoid box.
