TREMEC offers fully integrated systems and components to control the torque transfer in all types of vehicles, from gearboxes, clutches, hydraulic control systems and proportional solenoid valves, to electronic control software that controls the whole system. Depending on customer needs, components can be provided as tested sub-systems or as part of a complete system.
TREMEC engineers have a passion for the development and production of best-in-class systems that are optimized to satisfy customer expectations – whether it’s a robust manual transmission or a high performance, award-winning dual clutch transmission. In all cases, TREMEC torque transfer solutions are focused on meeting and exceeding the industry’s stringent requirements for reliability, cost and ease-of-use.
To achieve this, TREMEC engineers go beyond merely optimizing components. They rigorously apply years of development knowledge and integrate processes and production expertise into all designs.
TREMEC excels in the design and production of torque transfer solutions. Products include rear-wheel drive manual transmissions, automated manual transmissions (AMT), and dual clutch transmissions (DCT) for high-performance sports car applications.
The transmissions produced are optimized by our expertise in gears, shafts, bearings, housings, and synchronizers – and also by our in-depth knowledge of sub-systems, including clutches, hydraulic systems, solenoid valves, and control systems.
This experience enables TREMEC to develop the right design choices to incorporate systems and sub-systems that meet and exceed our customers’ expectations.
Wet single and dual clutches are the core of the TREMEC product line. Their controllability and thermal performance are key to TREMEC’s success in high-end applications. They are developed based on in-depth knowledge of the clutch system – and, based on the proper understanding of the different systems that interact with it.
Clutches can be supplied as a tested sub-system, as part of a mechatronic system, or as part of a transmission assembly. They can be supplied as clutch only or as clutch with clutch control model.
TREMEC also provides model-based solutions for sub-system control (black box or open models), including clutch torque models, clutch pressure controls, clutch thermal models, lube control strategies, and thermal protection strategies.
TREMEC engineers unite mechatronic systems that deliver superior transmission functions. The hydraulic systems produced enable control of the main transmission functions and keep the gearshift process as smooth and imperceptible as possible.
Flow paths are optimized for a responsive and precise clutch torque or synchronizer control to provide excellent overall efficiency. This system is found in the clutch actuation, gear actuation and pump control systems for 7-speed wet dual clutch transmissions. It is also featured in the electro-hydraulic active differential control unit used in torque vectoring applications.
TREMEC develops and produces the critical components to control the transfer of (engine) torque in sports cars, passenger cars and truck applications. This essentially covers the complete chain from clutches, hydraulic control systems and proportional solenoid valves to electronic controls including the software to control the whole system.
To ensure optimal performance, TREMEC low leak solenoids feature dedicated hydraulic valves for fast and precise clutch actuation, clutch cooling, synchronizer actuation, and line pressure control – as well as torque vectoring, “park” lock actuation, and airbrake actuation.
Model TR-C75TREMEC TCU Model TR-C75
The TREMEC Model TR-C75 Transmission Control Unit (TCU) integrates electronic controls to achieve better fuel economy, reduced engine emissions and improved shift feel. The module is primarily targeted at high-end dual clutch transmission and automated manual transmission control.
Built around a high-performance multi-core microcontroller, it excels in computationally intensive model-based applications that need advanced safety architecture.
The control module’s output architecture supports redundant switching of output banks that maximize limp-home capabilities. In addition to standard diagnostic features, current outputs of the control module support detection of solenoid function and provide full control over dithering frequency and amplitude.
Applications are supported by a software environment that abstracts the low level and communication hardware. The device supports standard communication, on-board diagnostics and diagnostic protocols. Optionally, applications may be supported by AUTOSAR 4.0, the standardized automotive software architecture.
A key factor contributing to the success of modern driveline systems is the ability of the control system to maximize the potential of the system. We achieve this by applying the knowledge gained in the development of the physical system directly into the modeling and calibration of our control software.
Our design and development activities are based on system-wide integration of knowledge from the areas of mechanics, hydraulics, electronics, and control software throughout the life cycle of the product development.
TREMEC offers a wide range of software solutions as an integrated part of a complete torque transfer system, or as a separate service for specific customer requirements.
TR-FO24, TR-FC100 and TR-FC150
TREMEC provides a range of automotive friction solutions ranging from clutch systems to friction materials. Both organic and carbon based friction materials in the TREMEC portfolio provide unique advantages for a range of applications and Torque Transfer Solutions. The requirements for shift feel, torque capacity, friction coefficient stability and refinement are addressed by our materials – providing competitive advantages in demanding dual wet clutch or single clutch applications.
TR-FO24 friction material is an organic friction lining for demanding applications. The material is made from organic cellulose reinforced with materials that are encased in a thermosetting phenolic resin base to form a fiber reinforced friction material. This material has excellent characteristics for high thermal loaded applications that require both a high friction coefficient and good controllability of the friction system.
TR-FO24 is especially suitable for applications that require very good damping characteristics, comfort and consistent shift times – such as automated manual transmissions and double clutches. At the same time, it meets the demands for lower loaded applications of passenger car torque converter lock up clutches.
TR-FC100 and TR-FC150 are wet friction materials that consist of woven carbon fiber embedded in a synthetic resin. Carbon fiber is considered an exceptional friction material for its high thermal and abuse resistance with a consistent friction coefficient. The carbon friction materials are resin-reinforced, porous carbon fiber-based composite materials that contain no cellulose, making them more heat resistant than paper-based products.
TR-FC100 and TR-FC150 provide high-quality friction lining for high-performance products, including friction lining in oil immersed applications – making it ideal for drive-away clutches with high loads.
