"Installing it wasn't too bad, the instructions could use better pictures, but the problem was the clamps. It took forever to get the clamps in just the right spot - even with the right torque on the bolt - to not leak exhaust at the clamp. One of them still leaks a little, so I'm going to fix it with some muffler cement. Other than that issue, the exhaust sounds orgasmic to my ears, I love it. "

"I'm satisfied with this purchase. The exhaust came very well packaged with no damage. Everything fit my 2009 Subaru Impreza as it should, and it look 100% better than the stock exhaust. The sound is not overwhelming or obnoxious, so I'm not waking the neighbors, but it has a sporty edge to it now. Don't try to install on your own, you'll just end up exhausted and wishing you had five arms. Instead, take it to a shop. Or, do what I did and save some money, but have a source for a car lift and two helpers. If you can find that, it's done in 30 minutes, and you'll wonder why everybody doesn't do this! One negative note: And, it's really not that negative... but to get the flanges at the front of the forward pipe connected to the existing exhaust, we had to hunt down two spring to fit the bolt connections, because the stock ones were too large and wouldn't compress enough to get the nut started on the bolt thread. Again, we got really lucky there, but that one little thing could have set us back hours just to go buy random springs."

"I purchased the Borla Catback Exhaust for my 2001 Subaru Outback Limited (2.5L AWD AT 4DR). According to the charts, it was supposed to be a direct fit catback. Unfortunately it was not. That is why for ease of instillation I gave 1 star. I had to go to a custom muffler shop to have the catback installed. After some cutting, bending, and new placement of hangers (every hanger was in the wrong spot) it finally went on. Everything else gets 5 stars. Appearance is amazing. 4" exhaust tip is very nice. Sound is a deep throaty sound, and not a tin can sound. Gains on the upper end can be felt. It looks superb. Price was $542. This was much less then I was quoted for a stock replacement catback from Midas. Even with the added charge of customization it was cheaper then the stock quote I got. Quality is great. Stainless steel, and guaranteed for 1,000,000 miles. You can't beat that! I'm quite happy with this catback system even with the headache of installation. If you're patient and can find a custom shop, then I recommend this exhaust for a Subaru Outback wagon. If you're looking for a direct fit, this isn't it. My grade: A- "
