A corroded or perforated fuel filler neck can cause the fuel to become contaminated and clog the fuel pump strainer, resulting in no or reduced fuel pressure and volume. This can lead to a no start condition or performance problems. On OBD II vehicles, a perforated filler neck will not allow the EVAP system to seal when the engine control computer tests the system, and cause the CHECK ENGINE light to illuminate. If you’re in need of a replacement filler neck, don’t just repair your vehicle, upgrade with a Spectra Premium filler neck. This filler neck is dual coated for enhanced corrosion protection. Testing of this process revealed minimal rust on the Spectra Premium filler neck after 500 hours of use, while an uncoated competitor was completely rusted. Spectra Premium filler necks also meet all OEM requirements for electro-static discharge safety, eliminating the possibility of fuel ignition caused by static electricity, which can be developed by the friction created when fuel is pumped into the tank.
