GM Revives Saturn Vue as Rental-Only Chevrolet Captiva

The Saturn brand was officially shuttered October 31, 2010, but now General Motors plans to reincarnate one Saturn model for the rental vehicle market.

The compact crossover Saturn Vue will come back to the U.S. market as the 2012 Chevrolet Captiva Sport. Although GM did not mention Saturn in the press release, the Chevy bow-tie on the grille is obviously the only difference between the former Saturn Vue and the 2012 Captiva Sport.

The U.S.-spec Chevy Captiva Sport will be offered with either a 2.4L Ecotec 4-cylinder or a 3.0L direct injection V6, both mated to a fuel-saving six-speed automatic transmission. The range will include an all-wheel-drive model, which will come standard with the V6 engine under the hood.

The rebaged Vue is sold in more than fifty markets across the globe, but in the U.S. it will only be available to fleet customers, with deliveries scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of this year. Pricing has yet to be announced.
