Sometimes you just have too much stuff to take it along inside the car; and with everyone downsizing, cars are getting smaller. Sure, there’s always the popular roof rack, but not everyone is tall enough or strong enough to load and unload a roof rack. Garage door clearance may prohibit the use of a roof rack, too. And sometimes you need to carry around some things that you don’t want to put inside the car. For example: gas cans (empty or full), freshly killed game, a used lawnmower, a muddy dirtbike, you get the idea. Instead of trading in your car for a pickup, consider a cargo carrier. It simply slips into your standard receiver hitch, and will hold many hundreds of pounds, far more than you could reasonably put on the roof.
Cargo carriers are available in different styles and with different missions. The simplest style is a simple steel rack. This is handy, but may preclude the use of the rear door, tailgate or hatch when loaded. You may want to consider a carrier that swings away to allow access. Cargo Carriers are notorious knee-knockers when installed, so many models will fold up vertically to keep them out of the way when they’re not in use carrying cargo.
If your cargo carrier comes without tail lights, you may want to add a set if your cargo is large enough to obscure your vehicle tail lights. These lights simply plug into your trailer connector next to the hitch.494.76 591.16

I just put it on my van today - looks good and the tow bar was very tight to put in and I had to file it down to fit. We have not been on a trip with it as of now. Look forward to see how it works. Was this review helpful for you? YesNoShare this review:(4.8)APPEARANCEEASE OF INSTALLATIONPRICE/VALUEQUALITY| Posted by Delia | (Las Vegas, NV)
We have two dogs and limited space for them packing in the rear of the car. I received this the day we were planning on using it. It took my sister and me about 1 hour to put together. Wasn't hard but took some time to screw all the bolts in. I was surprised to see that the tail lights on it were already wired to hook up to my car, which already had a tow package on it. It even cam with the wiring to add to my car if needed. It was a little tough getting the latch undone to swing it open, but eventually, it loosened up, and now it opens easily. The rear door on the car opens even with the swing closed. Like to swing it open, so the dogs can jump in and I can easier to get into the back to get things out. The latches seem not to be as sturdy as they should be. Cargo box and hitch are very sturdy and should hold up for a long time to come. Was this review helpful for you? YesNoShare this review:
