The French cousin of the Nissan Juke, the Renault Captur, will outline the design language for a family of crossovers. Renault is reportedly planning to build at least two production models based on Nissan platforms and styled after the funky Captur concept within the next two years.
The first model in the new line of soft-roaders will be a compact Nissan Juke-based five-door SUV, which is going to be the smallest in the lineup. The other will be a three-door model targeted at the likes of Citroen DS3 and Mini Cooper. According to Auto Express, the French automaker also mulls a mid-size model based on the upcoming Nissan Qashqai.
Engine offers will range from 1.6 to 1.8 liters, two versions of Renaults twin-turbo diesel are also expected to be available, generating 128 or 158 hp.
According to the reports, the new range will debut in 2016, with the first production models arriving sometime in 2013.
