The National Pronto Association is an organization of independent automotive aftermarket Warehouse Distributors, Auto Parts Stores and Auto Service Centers all of whom take advantage of a multitude of services provided by the Association. Marketing the Pronto names at all levels of distribution has become a primary function of the Association.
William J. (Bill) Menghini – the man, the legend, and the impact he had on the automotive aftermarket will not likely ever be forgotten. Known for his considerable civic and personal generosity, Bill Menghini's first love was automotive parts. His involvement in the industry covered more than 50 years, and his lasting legacy is the National PRONTO Association.
At 16 years old, Bill entered the automobile business in the parts department of Elliot-Van Brunt, a Willys-Overland automotive dealer. In 1926 he opened his first parts store and in 1941 he started one of the first warehouse distributor companies in the country.
His vision and industry knowledge prepared him to found The National Pronto Association, a national program distribution group of independent automotive distributors, in 1977.
Bill's constructive and unselfish service to his industry include a term as President (Chairman) of the Automotive Service Industry Association (ASIA), service as a director of the Automotive Hall of Fame and the Pals Club. Bill was an accomplished magician and golfer, and his energy was admired by all those who came in contact with him.
