German automaker Porsche AG has recently introduced Black Edition of two models: Porsche 911 and Porsche Boxster S. On May 6, 2011, Porsche AG released the new 2012 Porsche Cayman S Black Edition, limited to only 500 units worldwide. The limited edition is offered in solid black body on black-painted 19-inch wheels sharing their design with Boxster Spyder. These wheels are one inch bigger than the standard wheels of Cayman S. The exterior package includes Bi-Xenon headlights with dynamic cornering lights, as well as LED daytime running lights.
The black monochromatic theme is kept in the interior with stainless steel and aluminum accessories, applied as accents. The interior package includes black leather coat seats, black dashboard, the standard SportDesign steering wheel with twin aluminum-look spokes and black leather rim, and the black instrument dials versus the usual white. The distinctive touches are the Porsche crest embossed on the headrests and the limited-edition badge, decorating the glove compartment.
Black Edition Porsche Cayman S is equipped with 3.4-liter 6-cylinder direct fuel injection engine, which, in comparison with regular Cayman S, produces extra 10 horsepower for a total of 330 horsepower. The additional power is produced at 7,400 rpm (extra 200 rpm versus the standard Cayman S), while the peak torque is unchanged at 272 lb-ft at 4,750 rpm. The 0-62 mph acceleration time is improved by 0.1 second to 5.1 seconds in tandem with 6-speed manual transmission and by 0.2 seconds with optional PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Limited to only 500 units worldwide, the 2012 Porsche Cayman S Black Edition will come in the market this summer and will be priced at $67,500 in the United States.
