About Porsche 964

Premiering at the tail-end of the 1980's, the Porsche 964 represented the seventh generation of the automaker's 911 series. The 964 made headlines when it was launched due to its unique styled parts, which were a bit of a departure from the previous edition of the 911. New bumpers, mirrors, and panels were perhaps Porsche 964's most notably changed parts. One of the most significant 964 exterior parts was probably the small rear spoiler that would rise mechanically when the vehicle is in motion. Models under the 911 964 banner saw a series of adjustments. The Carrera was offered in both two and four-wheel drive for the first time. Two-wheel drive versions were known as the Carrera 2 while the four-wheel drive variants were aptly dubbed the Carrera 4.

A Tiptronic four-speed automatic transmission was used for the first time and featured steering-wheel mounted buttons used for shifting. The Carrera got its strength from a 3.6L flat-six engine which provided up to 247 horsepower. McPherson struts were implemented to bolster the front suspension while the rear suspension was Porsche's Weissach rear-axle which curbed against oversteering. As for overall safety features, front airbags were new to the 911 family and made their first appearance with the 964. Missing from the lineup was the Turbo. However, the coupe, Targa, and Cabriolet versions were made available. Before long, the Turbo was re-inserted back into the lineup with a turbocharged 3.3L engine good for 315 horsepower.

1992 welcomed in the Porsche 911 Turbo S2 as well as the Carrera 2 RS. A little over a year later, Porsche released the Turbo 3.6, which provided a boost to the lineup with 355 horsepower. Other versions in the Porsche 964 lineup included the RS America coupe and the America Roadster (which paired the Turbo convertible's body with a 3.6L engine). In 1994, the 911 Speedster was added onto the roster. However, the core group of 911 models saw only minor changes in their parts during this period, as Porsche was in the process of redesigning the car and its parts for the upcoming generation known as the 993.

Bringing to the table a sleek, muscular build and the power to match, it's no wonder why the Porsche 964 has remained such a steadfast presence in the garages of American car owners. It's got the fist-clenching performance that makes going for any drive an opportunity for adventure as well as the street-style looks that beg for some custom input. Since the demise of built-in running boards after World War II, auto manufacturers have been using rocker panel moldings to dress up a vehicle area that would otherwise be plain-looking and nondescript. Technically, a rocker panel is the section of a vehicle’s body below the doors and between the front and rear wheel wells. For decades, stainless steel molding...
One of the more eye-catching tricks automobile manufacturers have used to differentiate higher-priced luxury versions of a car model from value-priced versions of it has been to vary the amount of chrome trim on the vehicle. Base model cars and trucks (also known as "strippers" or "entry level") have little if any chrome while luxury and top-of-the-line ones...

1994 Porsche 964 | Posted by Kelly L | (Dillon, MT)

I can't show you a picture of them on a 964 unfortunately, but I think these Fondmetal 9RR wheels look awesome, are light (7x17” size weighs 7.45kg) and cheap (from ?210).
