The car was a logical continuation of the Kadett lineage. The Astras were available in different body styles, such as 2-door convertible/coupe, 3-door hatchback, 5-door hatchback, estate, sedan, and they were equipped with 1.4L to 2.4L engines with 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmissions.

Thus in 2005 came off Astra Twin Top that featured totally renewed Astra parts in comparison with the previous models, starting with the outer design and up to the new engines and refined interior design. The TwinTop was available in three trim levels with a range of engines in each, including 197 hp 2.0l turbo and the 1.9CDTi diesel producing 147hp.
