Most aftermarket air filters are constructed from multiple layers of cotton gauze, which are sandwiched between wire mesh that is formed into pleats. The layers of oiled cotton fibers are able to trap dirt particles that are even smaller than the holes in the filter media. The airflow stays consistent between cleanings, for optimal combustion.

"I researched all of the CAI's for my Nissan Armada and was sold on the Volant for the clean look under the hood and value. The installation went pretty well, but Volant could do a better job in their instructions; nevertheless, if you know your way around a car engine, you should have no trouble putting in the Volant system. Word of advice -- you will need to remove the windshield fluid reservoir to get access to the stock air box (which is not hard to do and you don't need to remove the supply hoses; simply remove the two set screws for the reservoir and the two electrical connection and voila! off it comes.) The Volant's construction is EXCELLENT...everything fits together very nicely and is far better constructed than the stock air box. The sound is simply amazing and the acceleration is tremendous. You won't be disappointed! Another word of advice - if you're thinking of adding the optional RAM air scoop, then install it at the same time as the main CAI. If you install it later, you will have to disassemble the air box to get access to the lower intake port."

"Before I decided to purchase an AIS for my Armada, I did some research on what is best, performance and money wise. Through product reviews, forums, seems like Injen has it. True enough, I had it installed myself, in a breeze, and as soon as I started the engine, first thing I noticed is like it brought a better idling on my machine, test drove it and i say the response on the gas pedal is better. And the look inside the compartment, yeah, I got my money's worth."
