    Mitsubishi is hard at work. One of the major tasks of the company is to finalize the project, called “Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Hybrid”. The concept was unveiled at the 2009 Tokio Motor Show. The latest reports suggest the North America market will see this model by 2013. The concept in Tokio was equipped with a 1.6-liter gasoline four cylinder engine combined with an electric powertrain.

    In case the Japanese automaker succeeds, it will be the second electric vehicle, offered by Mitsubishi for the U.S. Both cars are a part of the Mitsubishi's plan to built eight green cars by 2015. The i-MiEV hatchback is scheduled to arrive to the U.S. dealerships in the first quarter of 2012. The 2012 i-MiEV model is a five-door hatchback was revealed during the Los Angeles Auto Show, held in 2010. The car's competitor list will include Nissan Leaf and Chevrolet Volt. The electric vehicle is larger than its Japanese sibling. The i-MiEV will be offered with a magnetic electric motor, which is powered by a 330-volt lithium-ion battery. Due to the low gravity center and battery location, it is expected that a single charge will be enough for the i-MiEV model to pass 100 miles. It is estimated the electric car will get 126 mpg in the city and 99 mpg on the highway.
