Mini released the race-prepped Countryman WRC at the Monte Carlo Historic Rally. Dani Sordo and Kris Meeke, who will drive the new Countryman, as well as the Mini Cooper winning the 1967 Monte Carlo Rally, and its drivers Paddy Hopkirk and Rauno Aaltonen were presented this day.
Under the hood the Countryman WRC has a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that is specially built by BMW Motorsport. The WRC weights almost 2,645 lbs, that is 560 lbs lighter than the conventional street car. Featuring a new WRC specs, the new vehicle will take part in the 2011 World Rally Championship later this year.
