About Mercedes MLC

In 2011, Mercedes decided to develop a brand-new sporty SUV that was to become a sleeker coupe-styled version of the M-Class. The vehicle's codename, Project C166, was confirmed at a Daimler board meeting that took place in July 2011. Summer 2014 is its estimated arrival. Known as the Mercedes MLC, the new SUV shares the four-wheel drive platform with the M-Class donor vehicle. It borrowed its shape from the current CLS and is expected to make an accent on the design rather than utility and space. The MLC will be sporty and aggressive, with CLC and T-model station wagon overtones. Mercedes has confirmed a $350-million investment to build the coupe-style M-Class model. The MLC (also the MLC Coupe Crossover) is going to come from the plant in the US city of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Notwithstanding it has the BMW X6 as a rival in all aspects (BMW still sells 40,000 – 60,000 models a year), the MLC is supposed to blow up the market. The production version is planned to come with a variety of powertrain options: a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 with 333 bhp, the blown 5.4-liter V8 with 435 bhp and 516 lb-ft of torque, a 3.0-liter V6 with 265 bhp and 460 lb-ft of torque, and a plug-in hybrid which would combine a 3.0-liter V6 (diesel or petrol) with a 50 bhp electric motor equipped with an 8 kWh lithium ion battery. It will also borrow the current ML's Airmatic suspension (though, it's going to be 200 pounds lighter) and the next generation GL's air springs. The MLC will also get an adaptive damping that is standard for Mercedes.

As for the exterior parts, the 2014 MLC will have a bespoke body and headlights and a meaner-looking upright grille, so that additional sensors and cameras can be accommodated in order to monitor either the road or traffic and the parking environment. It will actually have a lower roof than the M-Class. Rear doors will be wider and the roofline less radical vs. the X6. It promises to have a sportier interior with adjustable rear seats and a full length console. The MLC's cargo area will be very flexible and super easy to load or unload owing to a low lip and a clever divide-and-tie-down system. So, the 2014 Mercedes SUV promises to impress buyers with its extraordinary design, parts and accessories.

Well, the MLC will become a 'zest' in the year 2014 in case other competitors don't steal all the possible awards. Still, Mercedes always has its peculiarities that make it stay ahead of the rest. It will have so much additional parts and accessories that hardly anyone will be indifferent to it. Will the all-new MLC SUV Coupe put an end to the competition or not, time will tell. But that's not the point. If you're a Mercedes fan and looking forward to driving the MLC, you don't need bringing over. The Mercedes MLC is worth waiting for.

Since the demise of built-in running boards after World War II, auto manufacturers have been using rocker panel moldings to dress up a vehicle area that would otherwise be plain-looking and nondescript. Technically, a rocker panel is the section of a vehicle’s body below the doors and between the front and rear wheel wells. For decades, stainless steel molding...
One of the more eye-catching tricks automobile manufacturers have used to differentiate higher-priced luxury versions of a car model from value-priced versions of it has been to vary the amount of chrome trim on the vehicle. Base model cars and trucks (also known as "strippers" or "entry level") have little if any chrome while luxury and top-of-the-line ones...
