About Lincoln Mark VIII

The Lincoln Mark VIII is a full-size luxury coupe that began making its way onto dealer lots in 1993 in anticipation of the 1993 model year. Dubbed a "grand touring coupe", the Mark VIII was a rear-wheel drive vehicle that slotted right in the Lincoln lineup and replaced the Mark VII. It was constructed off of Ford's FN10 platform along with the Mercury Cougar and Ford Thunderbird. At launch, the Lincoln Mark VIII was outfitted with a 4.6L Intech V8 engine which delivered up to 280 horsepower directed through a standard four-speed automatic transmission. As for the model's dimensions, the Lincoln Mark VIII measured in with a wheelbase of 113 inches, a width of 74.6 inches, a height of 53.6 inches, and an overall length of 206.9 inches.

Plenty of amenities were included with the Lincoln Mark VIII. Automatic climate control, cruise control, leather upholstery, six-way driver/passenger seats, a power driver's seat with memory, power locks, power windows, heated-power mirrors, remote keyless entry, automatic headlights, and an automatic power antenna were all included as standard equipment on the Mark VIII. Additional options for the model were a power moonroof, automatic dimming mirrors, a 10-disc premium CD stereo, and JBL speakers. Going into 1995, several changes were instituted to the car. It was slightly longer and wider than its introductory year (with an updated length of 207.3 inches and width of 74.8 inches). The interior parts were refreshed, as the radio console was given a redesign along with several other accents being upgraded. And perhaps most notably, 1995 marked the arrival of the LSC (Luxury Sport Coupe). Considered the top trim level, the LSC showed off a bolder version of the 4.6L Intech V8 and produced 290 horsepower along with 295 pounds-per-foot of torque. The Mark VIII LSC also showed off distinctive cues such as model-specific badging and floor mats.

1997 welcomed in another redesign of the model, with a brunt of the changes going to the Mark VIII parts, as a bigger aluminum grille was implemented as was a new front-end fascia. The Mark VIII's hood was constructed out of aluminum and the rear-fascia was restyled, as well. Xenon HID headlights became standard during this time and the car's engine received an updated coil-on-plug ignition system which did away the necessity of spark plug wires. The length of the model was also slightly shortened from 207.3 inches to 207.2 inches. Two trim levels were introduced: the Spring Feature and the Collector's Edition. Both came equipped with various options and accents for drivers to choose from. However, before long, Ford decided to remove the Lincoln Mark VIII from production, and after the 1998 model year, it was formally discontinued. Since its removal from the lineup, Lincoln has tried to replace the Mark VIII with options like the MK9 and Mark X.

The Mark VIII combines a roomy interior, reliable performance and a luxurious essence in order to make its case as one of Lincoln's most established vehicles. Classy, confident, and boasting enough style to help it rise above the masses, the Lincoln Mark VIII is also every bit the showpiece as it is mode of transportation. A spoiler is intended to control the way the air streaming over the car is affecting the rear of the vehicle.
