About Kia Amanti

The Korean automaker Kia Motors has always impressed the customers with the vehicles that showcased good quality, premium reliability and overall refinement. To remain in the mainstream, the Kia targets building trucks and capable family cars. The company's turning point was presentation of the Opirus sedan in 2001. The Kia Opirus was manufactured from 2002 until 2010. The full-size vehicle was produced and marketed by Kia Motor under various nameplates, in the United States it is known as the Kia Amanti. The Kia company first entered the large-car segment of the automotive market with the Amanti sedan body style. This segment is currently populated with the Toyota Avalon, Buick LaCrosse and Chrysler 300. The Kia Opirus/Amanti is regarded as the Kia's flagship vehicle.

The Kia Amanti shared the platform and engine as well as some other components with the Hundai Grandeur XG. The Amanti sedan came with a 3.5-liter 6-cylinder engine producing 195hp. The following year this engine was upgraded to 200hp. 5-speed automatic transmission ensured the smooth ride. The transmission system included manual-shift mode, provided with LED indicator in the instrument panel. The standard equipment consisted of a dual-zone automatic climate control, audio and cruise control, driver seat memory function, heated leather seats, wood grain trim,16-inch alloy wheels and a full-size spare tire. The Amanti had elegant body style, round headlights with swept back through the hood lines allowed to catch a likeness with the Jaguar S-Type. The Amanti's overall look was less flowing and refined. In the United States, the Kia Amanti became the "Most Appealing Premium Midsize Car" according to global marketing information services (J.D.Power and Associates, 2005 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout Study).

In 2007 the Amanti came with a new 3.8-liter 6-cylinder engine producing 264-hp. Five-speed Sportmatic transmission delivered solid performance. The optional features were traction and stability control. The standard safety technologies included a full array of airbags, side-impact door beams and anti-lock brakes. In IIHS side impact testing, the 2007 Amanti earned the highest rating of Good. The final 2009 model year featured significant improvements over its predecessors. In terms of luxury and safety features, the Kia Amanti rivaled Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. Modified chassis reduced car weight and improved handling. To set the Amanti apart from the rivals, Kia offered a new neo-classical design that demonstrated the Amanti's confidence and personality. The elegant interior parts were furnished with a blend of rich materials and simple forms, flowing lines and gently curved surfaces continuing the exterior parts.

Kia really spread its wings on the Amanti. A full-size luxury offering, the Amanti holds the ability to reach across the aisle more than any other model in its class. The Amanti has steadily improved with each series, redesigning the interior materials and the overall exterior shape. While the Amanti does employ pretty smooth handling for a full-size sedan, its performance is consistent enough to be enjoyable as a plush cruiser on long trips as well. Replacement of the Amanti by the Cadenza as a Big Step
Replacement of the Amanti by the Cadenza as a Big Step

Kia Motors, South Korea's second largest automobile manufacturer, has been trying hard at keeping its reputation and one of the next big steps is the replacement of the Amanti. Kia Cadenza is the Amanti's successor, but this model is not coming to the U.S. market until early 2011. The 2011 Cadenza is barely shorter than its predecessor with a wheelbase longer up to 112 inches though. What Kia managed to do is to reduce the weight by over 280 pounds still keeping torsional rigidity and overall strength up.

Leaving the current model's plain quad headlights, Lincoln Town Car-like roofline, and narrow grille the thing of a past, the 2011 model features low headlamps, a broad hood, a more geometric face, and sleek sides with a new kick in the rear window which will be definitely noticed on future Kias. The rear of the car features Mazda 6-esque tailpipes and crisp LED taillamps.

While Kia Amanti is phasing out, the Optima stays Kia's largest sedan sold in the U.S. for now. When Cadenza turns up, things will definitely change, as all-new sporty and dynamic Cadenza is a big step for Kia's luxurious sedan. As for high-tech featues, they include RPAS reversing sensors, keyless entry, “Welcome system”, engine “start” button, and cabin mood lighting. The 2011 Kia Cadenza is equipped with V6 gasoline engine which makes 286 hp. What consumers can expect from the new model is also an improved performance and better fuel-economy.
