Disposing of trash, food, diapers, etc. inside your car has always meant lugging around a plastic bag, which, frankly, always looks like a plastic bag full of…trash. The Motor Maid doesn't look like a trash bag, even when it's holding a gallon's worth of whatever. The black polyester shell can hang on the back of a seat, easily in arm's reach. Or it can hang over the console in reach of the driver if you drive solo most of the time. The shell and liner are rigid, so you can dispose of items one-handed-no taking your hands from the wheel to hold open the bag while you try to stuff the remains of your French fries into the opening. It's an elegant and attractive solution to a perennial problem.
When it's time to empty the trash, simply unzip the bottom of the MotorMaid. Grasp the filled bag and pull down. As you pull, more bag liner dispenses from the top. Quickly trim the bag with the safety cutter mounted inside the bag, and dispose of the garbage. Tie a simple knot in the bag liner, zip up the bottom and you're ready to go. It takes longer to read about than actually perform.
Replacing the bag liner is almost as easy. Open the top of the MotorMaid. Remove the liner cartridge by unsnapping it and simply put the prefolded bag liner over the outside of it. Pull the bag liner up, tie a knot into it and then push it down into the center of the cartridge. Reinstall the cartridge, and you're ready to go.
Janibell recently changed the name of their company from Magikan; they've been around under that name since 1988, and as Kleen-Aid before that. They make a full line of domestic and commercial trash cans that all use the same pre-folded, use-only-as-much-as-you-need bag technology as the MotorMaid. In spite of the new name, Magikan customers can still use bags made by Janibell, with similar part numbers and now enjoy lower prices, improved biodegradability, and get a bag that is 20% recycled material. Their motto: To deliver the world's most hygienic and convenient trash disposal system.
