2014 Jaguar Crossover Is a Reality
2014 Jaguar Crossover Is a Reality

Finally Jaguar is in development of something really unexpected. The Jaguar Crossover is a car that is challenging to imagine and yet it is a reality. The company's official sources provided some more specific information on that. In particular this new SUV is going to see the world in 2014 and will be equipped with 2.2-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine like the Evoque, another option would be 3.0-liter V6 diesel and a newer and much more powerful 5.0-liter V8 engine. It was also mentioned that the development of hybrid engine is under consideration.

So far no information is unveiled as for the new Jaguar model name. The sizing is expected to be around the same as Audi Q7 and BMW X5. Jaguar plans to make aluminum body for its new vehicle so it could be light enough to be fuel efficient, as already done for XJ and XK models.

Such moves of a world's famous and prestigious car maker are indeed attempts to increase sales from 50,000 to 200,000 vehicles over the next ten years. The primary targets of Jaguar SUV/crossover would be North America, Russian and Chinese markets.

Jaguar has revived its most exclusive and potent sports car, the XKR-S. The company describes its new performance coupe, which was unveiled at the Geneva Auto Show in February, as the “the fastest and most powerful production Jaguar ever”.

Last week, the British automaker released a promo video of its new super coupe, and it appears that Jaguar didn’t exaggerate with the aforementioned description. Deriving power from the supercharged 5.0-liter V8, the 2012 Jaguar XKR-S puts out 550 horsepower and 502 lb-ft of torque, delivering a 0-60 mph time of 4.2 seconds with a top speed of 186-mph. The U.S.-spec Jaguar XKR-S will be equipped with a more sober version of the same engine, rated at 510 hp and 461 lb-ft, which will probably make it less costly in North America. To the record, the European version of the latest XKR-S starts at around £97,000 (around $158,000).

The new Jaguar XKR-S, expected to arrive at U.S. dealers this fall, also gets a revised suspension and aerodynamic modifications.
