Coverking designs car cover materials in-house and contracts production of the fabric to the world's leading textile mills. Coverking refuses to use "off the shelf" fabrics - such materials rarely meet the unique and demanding needs of a car cover material. Following are detailed pictures, information and ratings of Coverking Universal Car Cover fabrics. Coverking Universal Car Cover Fabrics are developed under strict quality standards.
COVERBOND 4

Water Resistance

Coverking materials have varying degrees of water resistance. A 5 signifies a material which can withstand a significant rain storm with very little, to no water penetration. Keep in mind that even our most water resistant fabric will allow some water through. If a car cover were truly waterproof, it would not allow the trapped vapor undermeath the vehicle to evaporate through, causing rust and damage. All Coverking materials are breathable, allowing vapor to evaporate through the cover.

Breathability

Water which is underneath the vehicle will eventually evaporate upwards. If a cover is not breathable, it will trap the vapors and create a greenhouse effect - promoting rust and other damage to the vehicle.
All Coverking covers are breathable, some more than others. If your vehicle is in an area which is subjected to frequent rain showers, breathability is more important. If you are in an dry area which is not very important. Materials with a 5 rating are the most breathable.

Softness

Coverking materials are designed and tested not to scratch modern automotive finishes. If your car has been recently re-painted, we suggest waiting 6 month before using a cover. (Unless your material choice is Satin Stretch, which can be used under any conditions).
Keep in mind that the vehicle should be clean before being covered - covering a dirty vehicle will result in moving the dirt or sand particles, causing damage to the paint finish. A rating of 5 is the softest material.

Natural Hazards

Tree sap and bird dropping are highly acidic. By coming in contact with a vehicle paint for just a day or two, permanent paint damage may occur! Acid rain is another natural hazard which can cause significant damage.
A rating of 5 signifies complete protection from these hazards. If your vehicle is subjected to bird droppings, acid rain or tree sap, we suggest a cover with a 4 or 5 raiting.

Sun Resilience

All Coverking materials have U.V. inhibitors. Some have more than others. The Stormproof and Silverguard materials have been designed specifically to block and degredation from U.V. rays.
A rating of 5 offers the greatest protection from U.V. rays, and will result in a longer life for the cover is sunny conditions. If the cover is used outdoors in the sunbelt states, we suggest a cover with a 4 or 5 raiting.

Compactness

Ease of handling and storing are important considerations in purchasing a vehicle cover. Materials are graded by their bulk and store. This is especially important if the vehicle is a sports car or has limited storage space, and also if the vehicle is especially large.
Keep in mind that in some conditions - such as hail or a garage with kids and pets - a bulky cover may be a benefit, absorbing some of the impact from hail or other hazards.

Recommended for outdoor use, this material is thick and can withstand more severe weather conditions, such as snow and ice. Light hail, dents, dings, nicks and damage from other hazards are not an issue for your car with this four-layer material.
