Drop In Plastic Liner

Drop In Plastic Liner

For starters, they require drilling holes in the bed to properly secure the liner to your truck. We've all seen the stray bedliners laying in the median of the interstate, a consequence of not securing the liner properly. In addition, plastic liners shift and vibrate over time causing scuffs and abrasions to your truck bed finish.

Drop-in plastic liners certainly offer adequate impact resistance however they have many inherent limitations you should be aware of (see Installation, Cargo Protection, and Skid Protection tabs).

Hard slippery surface can cause your cargo to slide all around your bed every time you hit a pedal. You better strap down your cargo or it's going for a ride and may not be in the same condition by the time you get to your destination.

Drop-in liners are not only rough on your cargo but they are also rough on your knees when climbing in to access your cargo.

Drop-in liners offer little to no skid protection. Hit the gas pedal and your cargo goes crashing toward your tailgate. Hit the brake and it slides forward toward the cab.

Varies by manufacturer.

Spray In Liner

Requires truck bed finish to be scuffed with a sanding wheel or an etching solvent applied in order for the material to adhere to the bed. Spray In liners are permanent, can never be removed, and are a challenge to repair.

Provides little to no dent protection from heavy cargo which can cause dings, dents and gouges in your truck bed.

Hard abrasive surface is not friendly to delicate cargo such as electronics, furniture, sports equipment or even the family pet.

Hard abrasive surface is BRUTAL on your knees (and your cargo). We probably wouldn't recommend letting the kids sleep on your spray in liner on your next camping trip!

Most spray in liners offer little to no skid resistance Hit the gas pedal and your cargo goes crashing toward your tailgate. Hit the brake and it slides forward toward the cab.

Although most spray in liner brands offer a lifetime warranty, nearly all of them lack any warranty against UV fading. Texture and color consistency are typically challenging to match when repairs are necessary.

Rubber Mat

Rubber Mat

Flat backing leaves voids between factory truck bed ribs. Underside "Nibs" or "Cleats", which help hold mat into place, can cause chafing and scuff your factory paint finish.

Manufactured from rubber they are susceptible to dry rot, chalking and fading when exposed to the elements.

One size fits all - may require trimming to properly fit when installing over a plastic drop in liner. Simply lays into truck bed without fasteners.

Flat backing leaves voids between factory truck bed ribs leaving an uneven bed surface which is brutal on your knees. Aged rubber material can leave residue on your pants or knees when crawling into the bed to access cargo or release strong "rubber' smell especially when covered by tonneaus or caps.

Requires drilling holes into tailgate to secure mat into place.
