Freightliner Columbia Accessories & Parts

About Freightliner Columbia

The year 1999 brought Freightliner success that the company deserved well. After the warm welcome of the Freightliner Century Class, its key parts and features, such as Safety and Technology, were embodied in the new Century Class S/T. The same year, Freightliner celebrated production of its one-million truck and achieved 38% of heavy truck sales in North America. The heavy-duty Freightliner Columbia, based on the legendary traditions and advanced technologies and parts, was also unveiled in 1999. At the 2000 Mid-America Trucking Show, the Day Cab version of the Columbia debuted with a range of low and no-maintenance components. By the end of 2002, the ongoing growth of the Columbia success and popularity resulted in production of the 35,000th Columbia.

From year to year, Freightliner upgrades the original truck adding new features, options, and accessories to the Frightliner Columbia. The modern Freightliner Columbia is designed with several cab variants: 34”, 48”, 58”, 70” mid-roof and 70” mid-roof XT, as well as 70” raised roof and day cab. The available engines are manufactured to reach from 280 hp up to 600 hp. Mercedes Benz, Detroit Diesel, Caterpillar, and Cummins are contracted by Freightliner to provide diesel engines for the Columbia trucks. The the list of standard Freightliner Columbia parts includes all the accessories necessary for the driver's safety and comfort: Freightliner EzyRider seats, air conditioning and heating system, spacious storage compartment for personal goods, low mounted wrap-around dash with power distribution module, etc. The instrument control panel is equipped with back-lit gauges, dashboard switches with LED indicators, individually lighted flipper and rocker switches. A 20" four-spoke charcoal steering wheel is also a part of the standard package. The driver cab is thermally insulated to minimize noise, thus ensuring quietness and comfort.

Productivity and costs efficiency form the background of the renewed bulletproof Columbia truck, which was introduced in the year 2003. Its aerodynamic body is tested in the wind tunnel. The payload is increased by reduction of the truck body weight. The cab is produced of the lightweight and durable aluminum. The visibility is enhanced by a low hood and a wide two-piece windshield. The windshield construction reduces repair costs as it is possible to replace only the damaged section. The bumper is manufactured as a three-piece construction, which also reduces repair costs as one can replace individual elements. The engine compartments of the Columbia can be easily accessed as the hood tilts up to the 90 degrees. One glance is enough to check the fluid levels in the see-through fluid reservoirs. The standard size headlight bulbs can be replaced in a minute without any tools required. The Columbia is available in a 112” or 120” BBC length.

A kingpin in the heavyweight class, the Freightliner Columbia is a stout presence on the roadway. Equal parts burly and accommodating, the Freightliner Columbia gives its drivers rock solid towing, reliable performance, and a surprising amount of comfort. Deriving a more individual essence from the vehicle can be a challenge sometimes.
