Resilient polyurethane offers greater resistance to deterioration from road grime, oil leaks, and salt slush without drying out or crumbling the way rubber mounts can. Many original equipment flange bushings found at key mounting points for your engine, transmission, control arms, track rods, link rods, subframe assemblies, and more are all made of soft rubber. They’re purposely built that way to provide a high degree of smoothness and vibration isolation for the majority of customers who drive in a less aggressive manner. Those OEM bushings are excellent for mainstream driving when powertrains and suspensions are left unmodified. However, when performance add-ons are installed, stock mounts often crack, tear, leak and sag. Because compromised bushings can no longer effectively do their job, the engine can shift position – leading to detrimental effects on drive shafts and axles that were designed to operate at perfectly straight angles.
